marktoots Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hi I'm currently getting together the bits that I need to build my flight suit and was wondering whether anyone could give me a rough guide on the quantity of suede I will need to make the mudflap and the crutch panels? I don't want to buy too much but like wise I don't want to get too little! I realise that it will be dependent on the size of the individual, base suit, etc but a rough idea of the hide dimensions would be useful. Thanks Mark
Skinner3D Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I am 5'10 and I ended up using about a paper size for the mudflap, and about a paper size for each side of the riding patch. So roughly three 8.5" x 11" pieces I guess. 1
BikerScout007 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 The amount that comes standard from Tandy Leather was enough for two scouts. At least two scouts my size (6'0, 175lbs) http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/9122-21.aspx 1
marktoots Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Thanks. I've managed to get some off of fleabay which is about the same size as the tandy hide which is ideal as I intend on making two flight suits for those warm weekends trooping! Mark 1
