Too Much Garlic Posted May 19, 2014 Share Posted May 19, 2014 Try dunking it in Gastrol Purple Power for a week. It may loosen the glue unless it's the kind that actually melts the material it glues together. This may also soften the plastic a little, but once you wash it off with dishwashing soap and let it dry it should go back to normal. Just don't get the Purple Power on your skin. I filled in the seam on my helmet by melting the plastic I trimmed off into a paste with acetone, then spread the melted paste onto the seam. It will likely destroy the finish, so use it only on areas you cant see and be very careful with it. Another option is to just trim the faceplate to the visor....it will have the faceplate slightly tilted more downward but may be a good option, especially if the plastic is thin as the acetone may just destroy it.
