Someone humor me please... Take boot tutorial and just do everything in black for shadow scout boots? seems logical right?

They went with the color because the soles of the original base boot you see, were just that. The cuts in the sides that we do for Lancer approval, and the solid tan color, were the actual unmodded sole of the original base boot.

Yep. There weren't a lot of hiking boot options back then. Still, it could be worse. ROTJ Stormtroopers have white soles.
