kelt_knight
Well to me the real one from the movie looks strait still. You can see it curve in but thats within the black already. I think your seeing the black curve back under the helmet like it does on the movie one. I will have to talk to a friend that works for ILM and see what he says. Funny how you go to art college and then have friends all over the game and movie biz.... He will NOT tell me a thing about the new Star Wars movie..... I have asked so many times he says NO even before I ask now. Dam NDAs
01Hawk
Thanks for all the input! I will extend the bottom out a bit.
Skinner3D
have you worked with the bolts yet? I am having issue getting all the pieces to line up, but I am not totally sure what is supposed to line up.
01Hawk
I am going to work on the bolts this week ... Yard work, which I hate , has been sucking up my time and energy. Also want to tint the visor to get that ready to install. Just from playing with it, I am thinking I may have to put Velcro straps in to keep it closed/flush fitting. Sounds like you need to round up some EWOK'S and get them to work..... 01Hawk
Lining all the parts up . The one side doesn't line up ( face in too far and back of helmet sticks out as a result). I will get the drilling done based on making all the lines line up and shim it as necessary I guess. Widen the visor hole at the top too. The left side of the visor upper bill was cut too thin so I also tried to even it out a bit but don't want to take off to much and make the whole thing to thin ... 01Hawk
Got to drilling holes and playing with various bolt kits ( one I bought here and one that came with the SC helmet). I think I am sticking with the SC ones as they sit more flush than the other. The right side is not lining up- Sits in too deep compared to the back shell. I am going to get white washers for now and see how it looks shimmed and may make plastic spacers for it and glue them in. The sides will need to be velcrod down. The bolts will obviously be painted grey
01Hawk
Any thoughts on how to correct ? The other side lines up great.
Jancelot
I trimmed mine. A tad too much, actually, so go slow and small if you do it.
Guest cdraudt17
Your paint job on the snout looks so good! How did you tape it off and what paint did you use?
01Hawk
I had a friend at a car body shop paint it. We used what is called fine line tape ( kinda like a pinstripe ) and that allowed for an accurate curve. It isn't perfect but looks pretty good. The color was just flat black paint used on trim. 01Hawk
And as far as the spacing/gaps go I just shimmed it. Overall it looks good from the front and sides. From the top not perfect but not many people will see it from that angle
Scooter
I feel your pain I'm working through the same issue with my SC lid, but it's coming together. I've tried a different hole location AND trimming/sanding, and now I think I'll add another washer. I think that should take care of the last bit of caddywhompus-ness! sleeverob
Glue is all dried and fitting the parts up... Deciding today if I am going to paint the whole thing or not. Don't really want to put a ton of bodywork into it and think clear coating it will show off too many of the mold deformations and imperfections as is. Plus I want to buy a fiberglass one this summer. I didn't paint any of my SC armor. You should be just fine and shiny the way it is.
sleeverob
have you worked with the bolts yet? I am having issue getting all the pieces to line up, but I am not totally sure what is supposed to line up. I had the same issue. I made small trims around the back end of the front visor until it matched up. It wasn't off by much before I first started.
