Gato
I searched on here to find out but came up empty. Just wondering how many yards of marine grade vinyl I need to buy for my boot project?
Chex
I'd go with 3 yards, just to be safe. It'll leave you extra for mistakes, and in case you need to redo something in the future.
Chef
1 will be plenty... If you manage to screw up even with 1 yard, something has gone very wrong. And that still leaves some for repairs.
sleeverob
I agree. 1 yard should should be enough with some left over.
Darth Voorhees
Yea 1 yard should be enough to do about 2 pairs. with a little extra...assuming its 1 yd X 60"
4505Marcel
Yup as said 1 yard, that's usually the minimum anyway you can buy

Guest HamBone
I see that you're planning on using "Marine Vinyl" for your boots. Is there a huge difference between that material and Polar Vinyl? (The material that weight benches are covered in, etc.) I'm asking because I want to make them 501st correct and possibly begin making them for other people once I've gone through the motions to complete mine... Any input would be great! Also... I would say that about a yard (3ft) to a yard and a half (4.5ft) would do just fine for the each boot. Gato
Weight bench vinyl might be too thin. Marine grade is top of the line and holds up to the elements better. I already finished my boots and used less than a yard, I think. Then I gave some of the vinyl to another trooper for her boots and still have enough left over for another set. I bought 3 yards. Waaaay too much.

I appreciate the input and will be using the Marine Vinyl instead of the other stuff. I'll keep you all posted on my progress through a build thread or here. Gato. Do you have any words of advice as far as the assembly of the boots go? How long did it take you from start to finish and was there anything that you learned that would be useful in my boot assembly? Thanks again!
Gato
I just used the boot tutorial and instead of putting them in a hot car, as suggested, I used a heat gun to heat the vinyl before stretching. There is also a spec sheet you can use on the tutorial to get the measurements. I used it to make a quick mock up on some paper, then made sure the paper fit right on the boot before tracing it out on the vinyl. It did not take too long from start to finish. Matbe an hour or so. Good luck. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=
