Bobik96
Would padding in the knees be beneficial? I'm new to this but have seen a lot of photos of members posing with small children.
Soundwave
I got some self-adhesive weather stripping and put it on the inside of mine... I don't really know that it helps much, but it's something to kneel on.
Chef
not essential, but certainly beneficial. Especially on the bottom most edge if your knee plates have any form of 'return' that comes back in. This can be a bit of a killer and rub like a swine. I've got a bit of padding that just keeps this off my knee in mine. It's one of those little 'trooping mods' that you'll do the more you wear your gear.
Dart
If you look online, you can get foam knee pad inserts that you can custom cut to your needs. That's what I have in mine.
sleeverob
I have marched in many parades and have been fine without them, so moving around it is ok. I have noticed when I have bent down to one knee, it get uncomfy quick.
Jancelot
I hot glued a couple pieces of foam on the bottom half of mine for the same reason as Chef. I had run in to the problem originally on my snowie.
EnigmaEngine
Cheap foam on permanent mounting tape on the bottom edge for me. That return edge was a killer without it.
Dart
My only warning is if you're putting stiffer foam in the knee pads, watch where you kneel. I've personally cracked my kneepads a few times (up the edge, at the bottom). Just an FYI.
