So minus the holster (which KS is supposedly making and shipping to me) these are my boots as per the tutorial. I think they turned out nicely. Anybody know the wait time on KS normally? I ordered on March 6 and the PayPal went through on March 13.

I think if these pass muster and the other parts on the forum that I have posted also pass muster I will be ready to start looking into to posting for final and the 501st.

Nothing wrong with them, very neat job.

I'd consider doing the boot sole modifications for a sense of completeness.

If I was being honest I wouldn't pass these for clearance bud sorry, three things pop into mind when I looked.

1. You have two stitch lines around the top, really you only want one. I would turn a blind eye though to that for basic clearance, but for me I'd un pick one stitch line, the holes should close eventually.

2. The soles are not really a good match, again no big deal for basic clearance and as Rob said you really want to be cutting the soles to give them a little extra detail, in this type of boot it is quite hard as they are a very stiff rubber. But well worth the effort .

3. And this is the deal breaker for me the Velcro closure on the uprights are going the same way, one join is pointing outwards if you look. It could be sorted by un picking and re sewing both the hook and loop parts. And swapped around on the wrong boot

Nothing that can't be sorted bud, with a little effort ;)

:) I am here for honest.

At this point I am only going for basic level entrance. My armor is an older version and weathered, and I am not sure how that works with the levels of the scouts.

I am not opposed to fixing things though :)

1) The seam should be easy to pick

2) Any tricks for this? I am kind of limited in my tool set at the moment, although I could ask around if something special was needed. Addendum: Looks like my boot soles are really not stiff. I was able to cut a few pieces off without issue. Still open to easier methods than xacto knives (if any) :D

3) Yea, even after following the tutorial I managed to mess up the left. Will get to work on that.

On another note, for full build critique do I just post pics in every individual forum? I need to get all the major critiques thrown at me now, when I still feel like it is a work in progress. :D (Rather then when I feel 'done')

For the heel cuts I cut around the shape with a sharp blade and then use curved scissors used for trimming radio controlled car shells to notch it out.

Cuts. It's just an Exact-o Knife and plenty of patience.

As for an ongoing build thread.

You can stick your total work in progress in one thread in here...
