Hi fellow scouts,

I finally getting around to replacing the snout on my KS bucket. I need some help with painting.

Here are the steps I performed so far:

Sanded with 220

First coat with Primer

Sanded with 400

Second coat of Primer

Hand painted Humbrol Satin Black #85

After all that it looks really good:

However, im seeing some pretty easy chipping on the paint.

Do i need to add a clear coat? would that make the snout to glossy?

Thanks,

you can clearcoat with a matt clear. Did you wash it first? Sometimes the mold release is stubborn. It should have come off with the sanding though. Kinda odd its chipping so easy.

Also, you need to sand the top down a bit to have it fit the KS helmet..about 1/8th" or so. So you may have to touch up the top after that.

yeah i cleaned it good and sanded however its kind of hard to sand right good where that spot was. The top section is really good. I was thinking of sanding the bottom section down again good as i can and brush primer it. Then if it looks good, Ill try the clear matte. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've learned over the years with resin parts it's best to give it a good wash with Dawn dish washing liquid,it takes mold release right off. Do it after you have sanded it.
