Thigh boxes

Recommended Posts

Does anyone make actual boxes for the thighs? Seems a little silly to have thigh boxes that you can't actually put something in.

I don't think anyone makes them but inner boxes would be easy to make. I would be concerned with stuff inside the boxes affecting how they hang and noise.

I just put my keys, phone and wallet in one of the canvas pouches.

Interesting. And I was thinking that the "fake" thigh boxes would hang even less naturally because they are so light. I'm not so concerned with storage as I am with it just being realistic. Nothing screams "costume!" quite like a pouch that doesn't have a back to it!

I have the strap that runs through the drop-boxes held down inside them with white duct tape, so they lay against my legs as they're visually supposed to. Found that keeping things in my pouches made my 'bund sag, so I may have to get creative about my keys and such.

My gloves have zippered pouches on them, great for keeping cash, ID, cards, etc in. My undersuit has pant-pockets on it, which I couldn't remove and subsequently used to stash my voice amp, that will hold keys, and my phone. Once I finish the boxes for my bund pouches (and I will offer them to folks in my Garrison until I come up with a jig and whatnot to offer them up here), that should reduce unrealistic sag and allow scouts to store things in without drawbacks.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't being very clear. I don't really care about the storage issues. I'm just wondering if anyone out there makes thigh boxes that are actually boxes. Because the ones I have from SC look like boxes from the front, but are actually cutaways from the back. Kind of like a movie set where the front of the house looks real, but from behind there are no walls. Does that make sense?

From what I know of the various Scout kits...

The answer would be no. They are all the same style as the SC boxes.

If you wanted to box them off, you could insert a couple of tabs and make a backing plate out of some sheet plastic.

Interesting idea, Chef! Something I may look into after I get this build done.
