Ok I thought about it and want to get a studio creations helmet. I'm a biggner and I'm afraid that I'll mess up building the helmet. What are some things that I need to be aware of whe assembling this helmet. Also I've never worked with bondo. Also can I trust KS for a good helmet?

Thanks

read some bad things about KS helmets on this forum, mostly poor molding and if you have them build it for you, sloppy build.....I have never owned a scout helmet so I am only passing on what I have read on here.

I just bought a MLC v3 fiberglass helmet, I'm waiting for it to be made and delivered.

Aye, apparently KS hasn't been molding as well lately. More defects, more work to make it passable. I personally own one, but it's at least two years old, purchased used from another scout. Apparently SC is the way to go for ABS plastic (and they do an excellent armor kit, so I imagine the quality transfers), and both MLC and CB do a very good fiberglass bucket.

Watch the bondo,it gets hot and can melt plastic. Stick to spot putty, its really all you need if your going with a plastic bucket.

I've used bondo all over my animated arc trooper, and never had a problem with it melting plastic. I've never even heard of bondo melting plastic. MLC and CB make good fiberglass buckets, with MLC being the better of the two. KS used to be the go to bucket for ABS, but SC has come a long way, while KS has declined due to poor pulls, and sometimes shoddy builds for buckets ordered built already. LW makes the best ABS, and possibly the most accurate of any out there. It all comes down to what you put into it, to get it looking the way it should look.

It can, I've done it reinforcing a vacuumed formed proton pack. It happens when you use a little to much.

I own an SC bucket, and Enigma's correct in saying the quality transfers over. The only downfall is that SC doesn't have complete instructions for assembly, but is VERY helpful if you need it. It's a solid bucket, ABS just like the armor, and my pull didn't have any defects, but there's a good deal of modding to do to get it approved. Nothing complex, but I'm a craftsman/hobbyist, so my definition of complex is likely different from yours.

I did my helmet completely in a couple of days, and spent more time watching glue dry than assembling, granted I'm not approved yet, (I haven't even submitted since I'm waiting on boots and such). The decals SC provides with the bucket are pretty good, too. I'd recommend getting a set from TrooperBay, ultimately, but SC's aren't bad.

I'm PROBABLY biased, because SC helped me out ALOOOOOOT along the way. Their service, reliability, communication, etc. can't be beat in my opinion.

I wish I could comment on the KS helmet but I can't seem to get the one I paid for.

I paid via PayPal for a helmet and blaster back in December 2013.

She emailed me to say it would be there in Jan.

Then in Feb after inquiring she said it would be in my hands late feb.

Then she said it would be here early march.

Here we are in mid march and no product.

Now she (Brenda) also won't return e-mails.

I am reversing the PayPal payment.

Worst $400 I ever spent.

I should have gotten the SC lid when I bought the rest of my armor from them. They were great to deal with!
