Rainfly Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Hey again everyone. I know that trooperbay has a Mini PA system for $55.00. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with that setup? Any home builds? Any ebay scores? Alex
EnigmaEngine Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I too am curious about this. I know it's not hard to make yourself heard through our buckets, but it'd be nice to have that authentic static trooper noise....and not to have to raise my voice so much.
Pandatrooper Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Aker amps are the common amp many troopers use, especially the 1506 model. Jim at TK products is also a 501st member too. Light weight and fits into a cummerbund pouch perfectly. Icomm also gives you static burst. http://www.voicebooster.com/products.html 2
Chef Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Terry's got it.. The Aker amp is very popular and works perfectly. A lot of others (myself included) use the ROMFX with it's built in static burst. There are other units available, but their names escape me at the moment.
Griffin-X Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I use the Aker 10W and iComm combo setup for my other trooper costumes. I do not use a mic setup for my scout since we never heard scouts with a static burst in the movie. Plus, my voice is plenty loud!
tk6294 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 FYI, I have had a couple of customers report that the icomm does not work with the trooperbay amp. So I would avoid that if you plan to add an iComm at some point. Stick with the voicebooster/Aker that the icomm was designed to work with.
Rainfly Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 I picked up this happy little guy on amazon for $15 and it does pretty well to amplify sound. No static burst though. I assume that is what the icomm does?
Guest DogTrooper Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I am still doing a lot of research into getting my kit together. I came across this guys electronics mod for a Stormtrooper helmet . My wife is doing a TIE pilot and we plan on setting her helmet like this. My question is has anyone tried something like this for a scout helmet? I am really curious to see if it is possible to wire it up. The biggest issue I can think of is the flip up lid. I have yet to order my hemet so I am not all that sure what kind of room I will have to work with. Any thoughts?
