Real Suede vs. Faux/Ultraseude?

For the suede work on the undersuit, what's the consensus? I know quite a few troopers are using faux or ultrasuede, but isn't real suede used on the screen 'suit? Are we sure either way?

I would prefer real suede myself if it wasn't for the fact my suit is usually soaking wet with sweat after every troop and has to be washed soon after. The faux suede is a lot more washing-machine-friendly.

That, and cost, are why I commissioned a suit with faux-suede.

Faux suede is not approved for Lancer, so I might as well do it right the first time. More expensive, I agree, but the look is correct.

Next question: is there top-stitching on the outside edges of the butt-flap?

Just cut a rectangle shape and stitch it only along the waist line, leave the rest as is bud.

I was my suit after every troop, and the suede looks better each time it's washed. The suede washes just fine, and if you buy a hide and sell what you don't use makes it almost as cheap as faux

I understand that could be faux or real suede. I copied this point from the lancer requirement:

IV. UNDER SUIT

- Black real suede, or close faux suede riding patch on the inside of the thighs and over the seat of the suit.

-Ideally should have real black suede, or close faux suede square butt patch attached to flight suit at the rear under where cummerbund will sit and resemble those seen on screen, size will adjust slightly from scout to scout, but correct scale must be noted, no external visable stitching.

Or maybe the Lancer requirements was changed?
