Stanley box 24 or 50 gallon ?

Hi all

So, I´m trying to find out, what size of Stanley box, that I need for my TB for safe transport and still have some space in my car ;)

Are there any TB ´s in here, who can give me some info on, what size will be best ?? the 50 gallon looks really big on pics and the 24 gallon to small...

It would be nice to have a storage box, that can hold everything...

And if you could direct me to a vendor here in DK/Europe, I would appriciate it very much.

Thanks in advance

I have had both. The Stanley 24 gallon with wheels was too small. I went with the 50, which is way too big but at least everything fits. Before buying the fifty, I went with a cheap 30 gallon tub I bought at Walmart. The kind with a removeable lid. I just put it on a luggage carrier when I wanted to wheel it around. It was a pain but there aren't a whole lot of choices. Now at least I can break my sniper rifle down and carry it along.

I can get all my scout parts into a mid size suit case, I do use a separate helmet bag though. A 50 gallon chest is a massive over kill if you ask me, I only use mine for costumes like my predator, which require a lot of room. You don't need that much space for a scout if packed correctly. The 50 gallons are a pin to get into the car also

If you pack carfully you can fit everything into a 24gl tub. I have a Husky 24gl, exactly the same as the Stanley, but diffrent name plate. All scout pieces will fit including the helmet & boots with the utility tray in place. The trick is you have to gently test close the lid. Makeing sure the shoulder straps are not sticking up too high. I've done this for WonderCon this year. But the down side is it is hit & miss with getting the straps in the right posistion as to not break them. Normally takes about 3 trys. I normally pack everything in there except the helmet. if Im limited for space I will do the "everything in the tub". I know you probably dont have a Walmart or Lowes where your at but perhaps you can find a supplier where your at. but both have a plastic Centrex 45gl roller tub. the ld is fully removable & it is super lite! It's long & narrow & fits perfect in a back seat. I use this for my tie Pilot. Best thing it was under $30

HI guys

Matt: oki, but the 24 gallon would be good enough if the helmet aint in it too, or ? think the 50 gallon will be to much for me to handle with a bad back and a "normal" trunk. But thanks

Marcel: yes the 50 gallon is a big one and having only a normal car with a trunk with a lid, I was hoping to get something, that can fit in there.

Joe: thanks for the link, I have a vendor in Germany, that can sent a Stanley 24 gallon to me for a nice price, so I think, that I will go for that one.

Super, big thanks - you guys are awesome ! ;)

Like Chunk said, I have a 24 gallon stanley for the scout. I can get everything in there if I have to. I just use a helmet bag for the bucket instead so I'm not cramming it all in. Actually found a nice 30 gallon bin here that everything would fit comfortably in..but I'm not paying $80 for it.

Hi Mike

I just bought a 24 gallon Stanley, and I´m also thinking of having the helmet in a bag/box at the side like you guys do, just in case ;)

So now I´m just waiting for the delievery truck :D

I have a Kashyyyk Trooper so I have a little more armor than you guys with the Scout but I use a Stanley 50 Gal.

I do have extra room but i use that space with lots of other things, ie. my 2 weapons (long and short DC-15's), a emergency repair kit, complete repair kit.

plus any extra space is awesome to be able to bring back any thing-a-ma-bobs or doo-hickeys that you pick up at the cons.

I also drive a SUV so it fits in the back no problem but for FAN-EXPO my wife and I went with her mid sized car and it fit in the back seat no problems.

I say take the 50 gal and run with it, you can never have too much room, and when you DONT HAVE ENOUGH ir run into breaking your armor because you didnt do your 3 time lid check properly you will regret it ;)

Oki - nice to hear about, how and in what you guys transport your armor ;) - having a car with a "normal" trunk, the 50 gallon would proberbly be a bit to massive, so I bought the 24 gallon.

Since I don´t have any troopers nearby, who got Stanley´s, I don´t have any feeling on, how much I can fit in, so if it doesn´t work, then I just have to buy the 50 gallon - luckily there is no problem selling those Stanleys again... thanks :D

Ohh to have my Chevy Tahoe back. Man fullsize SUVs are great when trooping. We took the wife's 50gl tub, my 45gl tub two 10gl tubs & our luggage to Comic Con one year. We downsized when gas was getting expensive. Smaller SUV. Now if 3 of us are trooping it gets tricky. Local, no prob. Wife follows my daughter & I in her suv with all gea. Out of town, another story. Ok what can we take out of tub & sit on top of the other tubs? this normally means folding one seat down, one tub pushed up against the driver seat, two more tubs in the smaller cargo space with weapons in between the tubs & stuff on top & daugter squished up against a tub. What we do for our hobby. Smiles on kids faces make it all worth it.

Sorry if I hijacked this, but it's kinda relavant :D

It surely is relavant, Joe :D

Got two boys, who also comes with me at troops sometimes, so having a big tub on the back seat is not an option for me, it has to fit in the trunk ;)

Going to look for a mini-bus (10 pers.) in the new year, so I can fit both kids, armor-boxes and extra troopers and still drive safe and comfortable :)
