Hey Guys, I am seeking a bit of advice.

I have a SGB Kashyyyk Trooper helmet and the visor sits a bit too wide. (See Pic Below)

I was hoping to simply glue (e6000) the visor in place once I had the base coat on. However, now I am wondering if I will need to use bolts to try to bring it in a touch closer to flush. Using hand preassure, I can bring it in flush, but significant pressure is required.

My question is, do you think the helmet will support holding the visor in place under such pressure without cracking?

If anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know how you addressed this.

or If anyone has a better idea, please let me know as well.

I really don't want to build up the entire back half of the helmet to make it appear flush nor do I want to attempt to take material our of the middle of the visor and reconstruct.

This helmet is for display, if that makes any diffference. I unfortunately don't troop due to a disability.

Thanks for any your help.

Flthy

If i recall correctly, that helmet is resin. If that's the case, you may be able to heat it with a heatgun, or hairdryer just enough to be able to bend it into place. I'd center it and do this on both sides to minimize the amount you'd have to bend it on each side. Second method id go with if that didnt work would be again to center it and just sand off a tad bit on each side. It looks like its only about 1/4" or less that its off, so sanding off 1/8" on each side shouldn't affect the integrity of the piece much. Third and final solution would be what you had previously mentioned, cutting it down the center trimming out a bit and reassembling the visor..but that should really be a last resort. Hope that helps!

Thanks DV, for the advice.

You are correct, the visor is resin, however it has been lined with a significant amount of fiberglass.

Will that effect my ability to heat and reshape?

Darth Voorhees, You Are The Man!

60 seconds with my heat guns and I was able to reshape it with ease. Thanks a ton, you just saved me a ton of work!

Was jsut gonna say All I did to get mine back into shape was heat it up... this also worked witht he snout being cantered to the left (or more pushed in on the left)

as long as your slow and carful a heat gun can be your friend ;)
