So I REALLY screwed up painting my helmet snout.. Then I tried fixing with gloss white paint.. Didn't help. Any ABS friendly paint removers? I'm thinking of just taking it to an auto body paint shop and being done with the painting piece once and for all...

Just sand it all off with extra fine sandpaper, repaint & then samd with wet/dry 2000 sandpaper, apply liquid car wax if you want the shine back.

Won't sanding it off leave the abs all scratchy? That's why I held off on doing that. And if not, what grade would you reccomend to remove?

Try using brasso.I use it on my armor and it works great

If you use a fine grit sandpaper (anything above 600 will do) you'll be ok. Just be careful where you sand and then if it's still rough, get some higher grit stuff than you used and keep gently sanding until it's smooth.

Don't forget, it's really just the front edge and the inside curve of the snout that are prominent. Everything else is covered up by the plate and snout.

Well I was able to sand a bunch off. There are still some very light scratches so il pick up some super fine sandpaper to smooth them out. Next question is can I just polish to get the shine back?

For the future, orderless mineral spirit takes paint off ABS. You need a little elbow grease but it works pretty well and doesnt damage the plastic. I have used it to fix mess ups on stormie lids a few times :)

Good to know! Thanks!

My local auto paint was able to give me a decent deal to paint the whole helmet plus the details, so it will be very glossy to say the least.

What make of helmet do you own? Asking, because if the plastic of the helmet matches your armour, you might want to reconsider getting the entire helmet painted.

Its an SC. I feel confident he will be able to closely replicate the color. If not it wont be the end of the world. I just might have a slightly shinier/brighter helmet. :bikerscout:
