hi Guys

just wanted to share an image that has arisen on facebook of one of the original helmets being made.

I've now asked a few guys who are the SFX crew in this picture hopefully these guys are still around

and would be willing to ask few questions regarding the helmet

but from the pic you can clearly see the faceplate seems to be in the process of being sculpted

great image! I'd like to know more about the origin of the biker scout helmet . was it based on a ralph mc quarrie concept? is the name of the original sculptor known?

Excellent find Neil, just think what other great pictures are yet to be discovered!

The concept history is ib the Art of Return of the Jedi but if you haven't got that book the Propstore of London guys repeated most of it on this video,

Awesome photo!! Thanks for sharing!

Nilo Rodis is a colleague and friend of mine. He designed the scout helmet and armor as well as Slave Leia and many other characters, vehicles and sets on the iriginal trilogy films. I've been planning on doing a video with him in the near future. :)

yep it's a great image and is long overdue :D

a friend of mine is looking into the who are the guys in the picture,

hopefully we will get some info soon which I'll share.

he seems to think that the person on the left is Mike Fulmer a ILM SFX crew member

Pandatrooper - your correct Nilo Rodis was the creator of the scout costume/helmet but it would be awesome

if you could contact him if possible?

if you do please send me a message

Nice pic Neil, great find.

We can also see the two halves Imperial Guard helmet.

Very curious about the process of sculpting. Since the original molds seems to be made out of wood (for the main helmet as we can see with the picture provided by EFX), I would love to know how they did it!
