shdwtrpr13 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 So I'm getting to that point where I need to paint my helmet. what primers and white paints would you guys recommend. Also I'm going to be painting my snout too. Testers or can I use stuff from gamesworkshop?
Chex Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 The primer I used was a rustoleum auto primer (light grey), recommended to me by Evo3. Then I used a rustoleum gloss white. The expensive can lol. Make sure you wet sand between coats with some fine grit paper. I tend to stay away from testors, but that's just a preference since I use Tamiya acrylics when I paint.
shdwtrpr13 Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 I work with the warhammer models a lot. They have some good pigment paints. Also how does one wet sand?? And secondly what glues are best for abs ks kits?
Southscout Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Wet sand, get wet sanding paper, get it wet, sand, dry ;-) . It's mostly used for cars, so any place that has car stuff will probably have it. Get some different grits, down to the one that feels like a newspaper.. For abs you can't beat E-6000 glue. Some use CA-glue and kicker, but I have no experience with that.
shdwtrpr13 Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Ok big question. For the snout does the shade of grey really matter, just long as its not dark?
Southscout Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 It probably does, depending on the grey. Most primers seem to work, krylon, rustoleum, plasti-cote etc. If you're unsure then just post up a sample.
Chunk Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 E-6000 is the best glue for all armor kits. Sand the entire helmet/armor with regular extra fine sandpaper. Your ruffing up the plastic & giving the primer something to grip to. Primer, then spray paint gloss white. Use what ever you like. My favorite is Walmart brand, cant best .98 a can. Next wet sand the entire helmet/armor. Have a bowl with water & a few drops of dish soap. Dip the entire wet sandpaper in the bowl & gently sand & dry off. If you want a shine use any car wax.
