Need help with mounting 3M Speedglas on a MC Bucket

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I have been looking all over the forum and for the life of me can't find pictures of a Moncal Bucket that has this 3M Speedglas kit installed. Does this kit hold up the visor? I own this kit but have not installed it yet. Any help would be money.

You will have to carfully cut a square hole out in the visor for the base of the 3m bolts to sit flush. There is a tute around here somewhere, just can't remember who wrote it.

You'll need a pencil, sharp exacto knife or drill & a small hobby file. You can trace the pattern onto some paper first & rest fit the "square" . If your satisfied lay the paper on the visor & trace out your square. If using the exacto knife make sevral gentle cuts until the unwanted piece is able to pop out. use file to file down any unwanted plactic. If using the drill, find a bit that is a lil smaller than the square you want to remove & drill new hole. With the file you will remove all unwanted plastic to make the the round hole square. Both are fairly easy to do, just need some time & patience.

I have the 3M bolts and decided to go away from them because I couldn't get the headpiece to fit right. I ended up using the bolts that came with the bucket and glued the caps that came with the it. For the inside I went with military helmet pads and it works just fine.

I have an MLC helmet with the 3M bolts. Like Chunk said, you have to cut a square hole in the visor to fit the bolts into. On the helmet side I cut a half inch hole for the nut to fit through. Unfortunately the plastic nut that comes with the 3M kit isn't long enough to reach the bolt. I machined a longer nut but you can probably find something at a hardware store. That's all I used from the kit. I didn't like the headgear in the helmet so I went with military helmet pads.
