Guest Tk1968 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I recently got this rubies bucket from an Awsome guy here on the boards. But the visor was broke so he gave me a fiberglass one. I really like how it's turning out. I am not done, I want to find a lens and just nips and tucks and I know it's not 501'st but I would like to Here any comments and ideas for making it better. Thanks.
M.J Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Jeff we scored a Rubies one as well and the son used it for his last day of school so it didn't matter if it got damaged. we too didnt have the visor, we used soldering glass's they work great, you just have to look for the ones that are the right size and will fit right across
Chunk Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 You can use a dark green or charcoal welders faceshield. You can pick one up from a hardware store or eBay. Normally run about $10. Take some poster board & make your pattern. Remember to make it abot 1/2" wider than the eye opening. Trace the pattern onto the faceshield & cut with some sharp scissors or tin snips. Use E6000 to glue the lense in place.
Guest Tk1968 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Thanks for the info. The lens and some padding are next on my to do list.
Guest Tk1968 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Here's an update on my frankenbucket. I still need to clean the e6000 glue off the lens which I made from a pop bottle. But I think it looks ok. The stomtrooper is a heavily modified rubies helmet. It was a two piece made a few years ago. Nether helmet is 501's worthy but there pretty close to scale. I don't have the money to get better quality helmets so these will do.
