Decals and other armor mods

Hey everyone,

Any wise words from Pathfinders/Lancers about the opinions on original decals on the armor? For example, is it sacrilege to say, paint a single stripe down one of the shoulder pauldrons?

My thinking is thus:

According to canon, Biker Scouts are fiercely egotistical and consider themselves superior in almost every way to other military components. They are also deployed in relatively small squads, in relative isolation, for extended periods of time. With that in mind, one would assume that they would develop fierce loyalty to their squad mates. Now, if I put myself in their shoes, I would have some sort of insignia for my specific squad and I would put it on my helmet, shoulder plate or back hump.

This is all the late night thoughts and giddyness that I have for getting my scout armor but I would like to hear your thoughts, even if they totally shoot me down.

TL;DR: Can I paint or stick an original sticker design onto my armor without getting ridiculed or shunned.

Cheers!

Alex

Well, best advice...do not wear a shoulder pauldron! Those are only worn by the Sandtroopers and some Special Operations troopers. :)

Your idea is good, maybe you meant the shoulder bell. Once approved, some scouts do decorate their bells with their TB-ID, but it's not canon. The "fish hook" on the helmet is sort of like the Imperial Scout symbol too. ;)

You are correct! I did mean the shoulder bell. But since you brought it up, why do I see pictures of scouts with the pauldron?

The trooper you see wearing them must like the pauldron. Again, not intended for the scout costume. To me, a scout in a pauldron makes me **barf** a little.

For some non-cannon troops I wear a studded black brassard for that tough biker look. I have seen versions with just squad and legion patches on it too. I can post up a pattern if people are interested - it is a bit different to the Sandtrooper pauldron. I was inspired by TB-1019's brassard I saw a little while ago.

This is TB-1019's patched up version:

As I have had a few requests put to me for the brassard pattern mentioned in my previous post. I have finally got round to drawing it up. :)

A removable brassard can be very cool, so long as you get the ok from your unit to wear it for a particular event (usually if it's non-canon, you should be ok).

Otherwise, I'll just leave this here... :P

LOLOLOL you just made my morning. The sandies are the ones without paldrons, correct? or do the armor pouches count?

I was just wondering the original question of this thread myself. Anybody else wish their spouse could pick them out from a crowd? :D

Ooh honey look at all these pics of the parade and YOU.

Dear those aren't me, at all

I had a leftover sheet of decal stickers from the big AT-AT playset vehicle thing from the 2000's... I never used. So, I dug them out, and ended up using some of the stickers for battle damage on my armor. I cut and scraped them up pretty harshly, and then ended up going over them with a lighter/open flame to add a little more character to them. You wouldn't believe just how well they turned out for being just leftover stickers for a toy.

Hah! Sorry for resurrecting a three year old thread but when I saw our garrison pauldron photo (above) I had to laugh. We took it as a goof on the proliferation of pauldrons and, as an extra goof, the Sandies took theirs off in the photo. I'm the scout in the front row wearing my clone commander pauldron. :)

Anyhoo, I'm happy to see my brassard inspired others. I used to love wearing it whenever canon concerns weren't an issue, usually during events when I wanted to help promote the garrison, the detachment and the Legion.

Greetings Troopers !!

Am in the process of building my Scout Trooper costume, have the jumpsuit and gloves. Am attending the 'Riding Patches' and butt flap.

Have been researching for while trying to find a 'Scout Trooper' Tank Rank Chart.... There's a abundance of Storm Trooper 'Ear Piece' Rank Charts. Am VERY eager to locate such a chart for 'Scout Trooper's'. 501st CRL says Rank Indicator is on the top right hand side of the tank on the back armour numbering from 0-6 stripes depending on the Scouts rank.

Served for 5 years in the Army Cadets in high school achieving the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) the 2nd highest NCO-Non Commissioned Officer rank. Would very much like to match this for my Scout Trooper Costume for admission to the 501st Legion. Could anyone please help me with this information.

Thanks
