MLC Helmet Insert

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I have two questions. I have a MLC helmet and i´m thinking all the time what kind of insert i install. How have you solved this with your helmets?

The second question concerns the domed sticker above the snout. Unfortunately, the labels of TK 4510 not covered all the holes? Are there stickers which are ideal for a MLC helmet?

Thanks for the help !

Best regards

Dennis

Hey Dennis,

Check out Aeruk's build that includes the MLC helmet. I had purchased the KW helmet equipment but it doesn't line up with the bolts already in the MLC. I went with the pads that Aeruk posted on the thread and I think they're cool and real easy to use. I haven't trooped with it yet but I have worn it around my house and it's comfortable. My stickers aren't bad and I got them off ebay. Probably the same ones you have. Down the road I may reapply new ones. Good luck!!

By insert do you mean like padding or something to help secure the helmet to your head?I use a hardhat liner. This is the tutorial I used.ik the bucket is a tk but it worked for my tb http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F#/watch?v=DnCG50JX3LE

Yeah, the zap pads work great. I haven't had an official troop in it yet (will this weekend) but I wore my helmet for about two hours straight during the day of my submission photo shoot and it was extremely comfortable with the pads.

As for the holes above the snout, I filled them with Bondo before priming and painting, so there was no issue with sticker alignment. Unless you're planning on painting that detail and leaving the vent holes open, I would recommend filling them. Of course, if you're already applying decals, that probably means your helmet is painted, which means it would be considerable rework to fill now.

I also use military style pads. I had to cut the one that goes on top of my head in half since it was too thick, but was a 30 seconds activity. I have one on the top, 4 small ones on the sides and one at the base of the neck. Just move them around until you get a good fit.
