Borzou's Armor Refurbishment

So I decided like all other costuming endeavors, I should start with something used and then work my way up.

I bought used armor and soft parts from a fellow TB from the bikerscout.net. He already let me know that I would need a vest and attach suede (buttflap and crotch patch).

So I got it in the mail today and of course like a little kid at Christmas, I had to try it on. [picture] I will warn you guys, all these pics will be huge. Also, I apologize for the graininess of my iPhone, I was too tired to grab the digital camera.

Frist of all, let me say that for any of you guys that put on armor all by yourselves, I salute you. One hour later and I still couldn't figure out how to put the chest piece on properly.

Anyway, I identified a few areas that are going to need some work, including repositioning velcro to get optimal armor fit.

Right now, I'm having problems with the helmet [picture 1][picture 2][picture 3]. The frakkin thing won't stay closed, but I suspect once I tighten the screws holding the visor to the main bucket, it should alleviate that problem. Also, I might fix the snout in the future.

Coming along. Needs some onbvious straightening and alignment for the pouches, chest etc. You might want to trim and round the corners of the shoulders, check out my build thread for pics.

You might want to consider a bigger helmet though, the current one looks a bit too small for you.

I would def switch out the helmet. Everything else..you'll get there. Just look at some completed build threads, or ask us specifically what you need help with when you get stuck.

Thanks for the tips guys. As I said before, I need to get the flightsuit to current CRL and provisionally fix up the helmet. Personally, I think I would love a new bucket, but my head is too damn big. I would like to find a way to try out helmets first before I commit to getting a new one. Just baby steps for now.

Well, the one you have there is a Rubies. It's small. If you decided to upgrade to a KS, it's a much bigger helmet. My head's about 24" and there's still space to spare. Worth the cash and actually closes! :D

I agree with picking up a KS bucket. I looked at quite a few when I was getting my kit together, and the KS was awesome because of the larger size. I went for the pre-assembled one, it took a few weeks to get it but it was well worth the wait. I'm modding it for Lancer but the mods aren't that bad.
