scout.trooper
I'm getting ready to buy my armor and bucket and actually decided on SC until they decided they're no longer selling the finished scout helmets... only the DIY version (I'm not lazy, just don't have a lot of time on my hands). Now I'm looking at MC as an option and emailed them asking what the inside of their finished MLC buckets look like but have not yet heard back from them. I ask because someone posted the inside of an SC 'finished' bucket and the padding looked very comfortable and easy to get on/off one's head. Other versions I've seen on the forums have the 'constuction worker' plastic headband. Long story short, can someone explain to me and/or post a pic of what the MC bucket (which, I guess, would be the finished MLC) looks like on the inside? Does it come with padding or the construction worker headband?
scout.trooper
Also, how is the MLC bucket size wise? I heard SC can be a bit snug. It's possible I may have to wear glasses underneath.
miqt
Its bigger than sc. Theres a comparison on the threads somewhere in the helmet section. A hadhat liner will fit though it doesnt come with one.
dankelzaga
I have a finished MC helmet. Mine has 4 areas of sponge type foam padding. Two in the back of the head area, one along the brow, and one in the top of the head area. I don't have a particularly big head and don't wear glasses and it is pretty snug. I may actually cut a bit of the foam out to make a bit of room. I also don't run with fans or anything. I could likely fit a single fan but it would be a tight squeeze. I'm very happy with it. Keep in mind there is a pretty good wait even if just ordering a helmet.

elwyn5150
Don't get the "finished" one. Someone else and I on BSN paid for it be painted but it wasn't primed properly. After a few months, the bondo (or whatever glue that holds the hemispheres together) leaked through to the surface and needed a repaint. Dankelzaga... did you have any issues like Elwyn5150 had buying it finished? If this is the case, I might had to just build it myself. That way, if something falls off or explodes, I won't be so pissed that I paid someone extra money to assemble it for me.
dankelzaga
I haven't, but mine is fairly new and I haven't trooped in it..just worn it as I work on completing my build. It looks great and I'm very happy with it....but that certainly sounds concerning to me. For the cost and wait time....I would be very upset if I were to see any issue at all. I received mine last September btw...at this point in time it is still fine.
miqt
Fiberglass should sit and cure and outgas for a while before painting. Thats probably all it was, just painted a bit too soon.
scout.trooper
One last question about the MLC v.3... any modding need to be done to this? Like the fish-hook decal or the snout. I know there's some snout pieces on sale and I'm not sure which ones are the "right" snout pieces since there are different versions. elwyn5150
I never used the MLC snout since MC sent me a snout. I also didn't use the MLC bolt covers since I bought the 3M bolts. Somebody else probably knows more about the correct snouts but I just know that there is meant to be a backing plate on the snout greeblie. Dart
MC or DonJarr make great snouts. MC makes 2 types: 1 without the back plate and 1 with the back plate.
