jpmas
Hello All, My armor is arriving tomorrow and the mission begins. I am new to the armor assembly, what does everyone use for rivets? Such as attaching the boot holster and belt assembly? And what type of tool is used to attach rivets? Ok, here is the main question: What do I need to buy? Thanks! PanzerKraken
A rivet gun is used to attach rivets. You will find them next to the rivets in a hardware store. Look up videos online on how to use a rivet gun before you try and do some tests on various materials to make sure you understand how to use it. jpmas
Thanks PanzerKraken! Will do. I may have more piercings after testing the rivet gun. Time for the pliers and bandaids.
Chex
Yeah def practice riveting on some scrap. Get an assortment of rivets as well as washers.
boetscher
For the belt assembly use Panda's method from his Armor building contribution. I try it last Friday and it works fine without rivets ;-)
jpmas
So with out rivets will pass for Lancer status? I thought there was one rivet needed for the belt. Still learning the standards. Thx!
Heavy
You do need one rivet in each side of the belt to attach the webbing to the plastic part - I think Boetscher means to clue the plastic belt together, if you have the SC kit, since that one comes in 3 pieces, instead of putting rivets in it. I´ve glued mine, since I want to go for Lancer in the future but do look at Pandatroopers buildthread - it is really great !
boetscher
For Lancer the belt must be one pIece. at least the plastic parts. I think you can put the fabric with rivets on the belt. But i'm not shure.

elwyn5150
My advice is don't buy cheap rivet guns. My first one was around $15 and I regretted it because the rivet would get stuck in the gun and not break off like it should. I'd spend half an hour on each rivet trying to get it to break off. While rivet guns aren't used much with TBs, they are used a lot in TKs.
Southscout
Also get a Lexxan scissors, good for trimming down the plastics. Also some snap buttons and tool for that is needed.
