I found both of these suits for a good price, both around $29.

Tru-Spec Jumpsuit

or

Red Kap Coveralls

I would prefer the one that I would have to do less mods on.

Will these be acceptable?

Do you like one over the other?

Do you recommend another type of suit?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Hi I would take the red kap - there you would "only" need to do the collar, so it will stand like the other True Spec.´s + remove the front pockets and sew the pockets together at the sides . Perhaps velcro around the arms and legs, if you want that... The True Spec needs to get all the pockets away, also the ones on the sides and the zippers on the legs and the front zipper needs to be hidden... Look at the CRL regarding the suit ;)

I use the Redkap coveralls. It was easy to remove the 4 pockets and I used 1 of the pockets to make a neck closure. It's very durable material and will last for many, many troops. Also a great price and comes in many sizes.

Either will work really, I personally would say its easier to remove a couple of pockets on the tru spec than to make a completely new collar on the red Kap.

Which ever you get will be fine bro

It's actually not a new collar, just a small addition to the existing collar. :)

I use the RedKapp coveralls for my Scout & Tie Pilot. Belive me the scout was a easier conversion. Always easier to remove pocket than make new & sew on.

I have a Red kap overalls for my TIE and it's great. Might go with it again for my Biker.

I have the Tru-spec (the 24-7, not the 27-P) and had a bitch of a time getting the pockets off. They were sewn on there so well, it took a while. Zippers on the legs aren't a problem as the boots hide that. The 27-P may be easier to get the pockets off.

Wondering if anyone else used the 24-7 and had to patch up/stitch after taking the pockets off. A couple of them were a real bear to remove and I ended up with some small tears in the suit material that won't be concealed by the diaper or riding patches. The thigh elastic might cover it up. How many visible "fix-it" stitches (small ones, visible only if you look closely) before the suit is considered unserviceable? Is this a GML question?

If it's not too bad, you should be fine. However, if it's too noticable then your GML may have concerns. IMO...you probably won't be able to see them in the pics.

Proof that these posts have a looooong shelf life ! I'm a tall guy at 6'4"....yea I know.....don't stand next to Vader....kneel in front Jack.... :D

So these suits become a real challenge. Red Kap comes in a long size so the measurements seem nice and tall / long. Will update once I get it and verify !

As always - great advice Scouts !

Slight delay in my order (size was back ordered).....but received my Redkap's yesterday. Took me about 45 minutes to remove the two back pockets and one small side with a $3 seam ripper. Easy as could be and it came out beautifully. Wonderful build quality and the tall sizing fits great for us tree top bikers. :)

Next I'll use one of the spare pieces of fabric from removing the pockets to make the collar flap as Griffin showed above. A+ !!!
