Helmet Fans

Recommended Posts

So got some fans I would like to put in the helmet, but not sure on where they would be best placed. I've seen for other helmets it recommended putting it by the mouth area to circulate around the face, but with the snout shape of the scout this seems like it wouldn't work so well as the snout would be blocking most of the air flow, as well as probably causing issues with any mics being used with a speaker system.

To be honest... In all my Scout buckets I've never needed fans. The air circulation is pretty good when you cut the ear vents out.

Some people put mesh across the ears and mount the fans directly behind the mesh so the fans draw air in from the outside.

Me, I just stand and face the breeze for a bit. Does exactly the same job.

Thats what I have done. It gets hot in Florida. ;)

At some point, I'm going to re-rig it to just one fan in the snout, & pull the mesh out the ears for accuracy. Right now, I'm making use of all available space in my helmet. lol...

I use one fan that's mounted on the inside of the snout. I've got a hollow MC snout so I drilled a hole through the faceplate and installed a blower/squirrel fan that blows up towards my lens. Works very well.
