Heavy´s TB build

Hi all Well the box has been standing in a corner of my bedroom for some time now, but I´m almost there regarding all the pieces. I bought my kit from SC (great service and fast delievery), and my bucket is going to be shipped in this week, wee.... looking forward to that. The flightsuit is paid/ordered from MC late in December ´12, but it looks like I have to wait some more for that, wich wasn't the deal with MC - that sets me back regarding putting the armor together. :( I´ve got the balaclava and blaster, and the cummerbund/pouches and boots are paid/ordered from Marcel and on it´s way... also wee... ;) Also the greeblins from Don Jarr for the td is in the house... The gloves I´ going to buy from another member at NG, if they fit me... The flak vest is my mum going to make for me, I have absolutely no skills regarding a sewing machine and I like my fingers to much - I´m buying fabric/Velcro and real suede tomorrow. I´m planning on starting with the td and putting the tank on the back armor - is it ok to use a L-shaped metal bracket for a better fasten ???? I´m also going to put the belt together using Pandatroopers great buildthread ;) - I´m going for Lancer in the long run - but right now I´m aiming on being finished for my sons 6 year birthday on the 1st. of april and making that my first off. troop... :bikerscout: Here´s a link with some photos of my kit : http://s1246.beta.ph...en/story/14315#

Looking forward to watching your build! Thanks for sharing. I'm currently working on mine also. Unfortunately my order for my flight suit and vest is taking double what the initial projection time frame was and still isn't started but I have everything else ready to go. Hate looking at all of it in the corner knowing I'm at at complete standstill. I'm glad we have the great resources here to help us with our build. Keep us updated.

Sounds like we have a bit of the same issue regarding waiting for some things, that are keeping us at hold - but yes we have some great guys/girls in here to help us through ;) I´m looking forward to see your build too - and I´ll make sure, to keep you updated with my build.... :D

Not having the jumpsuit shouldn't set you back too far, if you start on the little things that don't require fitting. Besides, the strapping is still pretty adjustable, so you could start on the belt and arm armor, as well as the hump. :)

Yes you´re right, I can´t wait anymore either, so I´m going to start the build tomorrow. Do you know if it´s ok to use a L-shaped metal bracket for the hump ?

If the bracket is not visible, then you can use whatever you want. There are no requirements on how you do stuff, just how it looks in the end :)

Great - I´ll start on that tomorrow, thanks ;)

Yeah, I just used bent plastic for mine. You won't be able to see it under the hump, so it doesn't have to be anything exact. Just as long as its something sturdy that will last.

I haven´t got any plastic, so I thought one of those could do the trick. It´s a stainless bracket, so I guess it will hold ;)

I´ll try with the metal bracket first - it´s 5 cm wide, so the hump is going to have a nice surface to be fasten on... ;) If it turns out, it wont work, I guess, I could ask on of the other guys here in Denmark, if they have a spare piece... :D

What I did with the SC was recommended by the former DL. I cut out most of the back plate, leaving a nice piece hanging there. Looked like I cut a giant "U" into the back plate. Then I just heated up that middle part I left, and bent it back up so that it rested under the tank. Punched the hole and then riveted from the inside out.

Hi Mike - and the back armor will still hold its form that way ? I´ve see other cut a hole too... hmm I´ll see, if the bracket can be used otherwise I´ll try this. Thanks ;)

Hi Björn thanks :D Getting those things are a big step towards the finish of getting all the pieces together. I´ve just painted the topper for the tank, so hopefully I can put it on the hump tomorrow... The measurements for the flak vest is also being taken tomorrow by my mum, so she can make a go on that one. RIght now, I´m really missing my flightsuit... but I´m going to measure the bells and put Photos up in here for help regarding cutting the lengde... I´m a bit nervous about perhaps taking to much, so better ask first ;)

Oki little update...my mum got the measurements for the flak vest today, and is now making the pattern to cut from... :) Regarding the armor : I´ve glued (E6000) the t-bits on and the greeblins on the td and drilled the holes in the td + putted the decal on the front armor... so tomorrow I´m going to put the velcro/straps on the knees/bells/biceps and forearms and putting the hump on the back armor :-) so it´s coming along nice and easy, so far... ;) I´ll put some photos in my photobucket later...

Great - then you can get to work to ;) I haven´t heard from MC since the 18th of january... I´ve ordered 3 late december ´12, one for me and one for each of 2 other members at the Danish NG. She promised me, that the flightsuits would be send quickly, beause they have those in stock... didn´t think it would take so long to put those in a package and ship them .....

That´s right Patrik :) but finished and cleared with the TB - and then I´m going to make mod. for Lancer ;) and then going to put together a Pre Vizla for my oldest son... so yes, there´s always more to do :D today I´ve cut the slidge for the L bracket in the back armor - still need to figure out how to drill the hole, so it fits... also put velcro on the biceps/forearms and knees and glued the belt together. So a little progress ...

So got some things done today... velcro on the biceps, forearms and knees. The td is almost finished, still needs the moneyclips and the end caps. Also cut the hole for the L-bracket, haven´t fasten it yet, because I still need to figure out, how to get the holes to fit with the hump... So any advice on that is more than welcome ;) Link for Progress : http://s1246.beta.photobucket.com/user/Heidi_L_Sorensen/story/14623#
