darthmynock
Hi there guys, long time no see(read). As the title says, I want to update my helm to bigger/accurate bucket. I have a modded '90 DP, but i'm looking for a bigger/accurate one. Already have done my homework, and saw that my options are SC, KS or MLC (LW is my favorite choice, but....) So I need some advice to help me decide. Thanks Toni
Chex
KS is going to be the biggest out of them all I think. I have one, and I love it. The MLC and SC are smaller. I think the SC is based off of a DP, so the sizes will prolly be similar I think. If Scott sees this he can chime in and confirm or give a better analysis.
darthmynock
Thanks for the feedback Chex, but talking about sharp lines, good pulls, you know... quality, to which one I should be aiming? Oh and btw, how similar or different in size is the SC helm compared to the DP?
Chef
I think it might be pertinent for us all to get together and take some measurements of the various buckets up on the forum. This question seems to be rearing it's ugly head quite a lot of late. So I think we should collate a bit of a database for comparison.
darthmynock
As soon as I get home, I will get some shoots with measurements of my '90 DP, also which one has sharper details compared to a DP, SC or KS?

I'd say the KS. SC's have really soft lines
darthmynock
Thanks everyone for their input. Do guys have any info regarding this two bay sellers or their products? (I know we should keep off the bay, and been a GML for my outpost is what I advise to new members but I'm just checking all my options out there) US UK thanks Toni
bwattsup
Not really sure about the US one at all Toni. The UK one I've seen on the internet, but have never seen it talked about here. I've been meaning to ask our UK peeps if they have any info on that bucket. It's a pretty nice sculpt overall. Chime in chaps if you have some info! This question seems to be rearing it's ugly head quite a lot of late. So I think we should collate a bit of a database for comparison. I could have sworn there was a good thread some place where someone had detailed photos for vaious buckets as well as armor, with their respective measurements taken. I can't seem to find it now though. I was under the impression MLC was a tad bit bigger than KS, but its been a while since I've seen the two together. Most of us (the scouts in my squad) now seem to all have KS, so its harder to compare. I'd love to check out those two links, but I can't look at eBay at work. Chef
Yeah, I know... Hence the reason I suggested we do another. I don't think we need to do side by side comparisons, mainly because getting them all together might be a tad difficult. But what we could do is decide on what sort of dimensions we are going to measure, and then whoever has got which ever lid, gets out the tape measure and does the write up. Each can then be compared to the other... I've never seen one of those lids in the flesh... I'd be a bit concerned that it's only 2mm thick. That's pretty thin for GRP and thus would be a little fragile. That sounds like a Gel Coat and a couple of skins of tissue.. If it were me, I'd ask the chap about the exact construction method. Which weight mat is used and what resin, before committing to buy one. Yeah, the sculpt looks OK. Looks like a re-worked Rubies/DP to me. The US one.... er.... not quite as good. Looks like a slush cast resin one (and I'm never convinced of their rigidity). It looks like it will need a good deal of surface work as it seems a bit wibbly wobbly. Again, more than likely to be a Rubies/DP base.
Griffin-X
This is a good post from Matt (Grendel_Blitz). http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9501&hl=&fromsearch=
Chef
Yeah, good post, but a bit full of fluff. I think a thread with just the details on, without all the picture quoting and back-slapping would be beneficial. But that's just me. What say the rest of you? I'll provide what I can of my SC once it's finished. Mine's just modded. Might be better if we get someone to take it from an original SC though.
