Guest bobamatt
I got to see and hold this in person last night and it's superb! Very comfortable to hold (in both hands!!!) and an incredibly clean build!!! Mucho impressed, Duff!
DUFF
Need some input on resins. I did a test cast of the eye piece using my rubber resin. Its density is that of a super-ball and It has some give but overall pretty solid. Areas that are thinner and unsupported such as the scope eye piece are very flexible (i can bend the outside of the eye piece in to touch the "glass" and pop back to normal shape. How do you guys feel about that. Should i work with the supplier to see if its possible to make a firmer product or does it look ok to proceed as-is? pushing pretty firmly on the eye piece back to normal after being pushed in. Griffin-X
Wow, that's pretty flexible. I think as long as it snaps back in shape, this looks good to me. Have you tried a heat test...like leaving it inside a car, or something? Just curious how the shape stands up to that type of condition.
DUFF
It firmed up a bit more after i let it cure all night. It maintained its flexibility but overall its not as soft.. I haven't tried a heat test yet. that's a great idea.. thanks! Ill throw it in the oven tonight and see how it hold up to 170* . May also go the other route and freeze it to see how brittle it gets. Ill post up the results tonight. On a side note., Notice no seam lines on the cast? that's why its taking a bit longer to get production running. We are making the molds so that if there has to be a seam it will line up on an edge or under cut. What it means for you guys is it will be a 100% finished product when delivered. Aeruk
Looks fantastic! Just curious, how much does this sucker weigh?
DUFF
main body is 400g and the scope is 100g. tack on a few extra grams for the trigger guard scope ring screws and magents and youre looking at around 1.3lbs
4505Marcel
Is the whole baster going to be made of that rubbery resin? Id say you want something a little firmer to be honest. You dont want a floppy blaster, hyperfirm style rubber would be awesome
DUFF
the resin isnt as rubbery as it appears in the pictures. Its very similar to the hyperfirm for the main body. The only areas that are flexible are the eye piece and the trigger guard as they are thin and unsupported. Even then they don't flop around they just bend under pressure
DUFF
Few more pix with the scope attached. Will be sending a few out to selected evaluators for review. hope to use their input and have a final production mold in a month or so integrated magnet Unique Serial numbers.
