madmann883
I have a question with the belt. I know the SC armor tells you to rivet or bolt on the belt strap to the end of the plastic for the belt. I have seen, though, that where the belt is contected to the plastic peice, it usually tears and breaks. I had the idea to make a belt completely out of the straping and then, with either snaps or velcro, connect the plastic detail onto the fabric belt, similar to a TK. Would this be approvable? BrewDiver
i made my belt (SC) how they have the instructions, but i swapped the main buckle in the back with velcro instead, i'm in the process of removing the rivets and using e6000 to make it all one piece for lancer as instructed, dont know if this helps or not. Pandatrooper
Use a soldering iron to seal the hole in the webbing before you rivet the belt armor on. Back the rivet with a washer so it doesnt pull out.
Chex
Yep, what Terry said. The washer def helps and the sautering should keep anything from tearing. Brew, make sure you cover up the holes that you pull the rivets out of. Will prolly require you to paint the belt once you're done.
4505Marcel
You could try plastic weld on the belt joins and then mix plastic weld and bits of abs to make a paste to beldn in the seam. Once weathered it will disguise it some. Then just one rivit holding the webbing, use a lighter as mentioned above to seal the rivit hole, and use the bigges backing washer you can find
madmann883
I know that you can seal the nylon of the belt strap with heat. But, experience with my Republic Commando has show that, even sealed, Nylon can still rip. I was just wondering if my TB would be approved with a full nylon belt and snapping or velcroing on the blastic belt to the front of the nylon belt.
