Hey guys,

My flight suit will be here in a day or two. I am going to purchase the suede today. Can anyone direct me to a good source for measurements of the riding patches, what they should look like and how they should be cut? I am also wondering about the elastic thigh bands. What are they and what do they look like?

I bought the Tedsmilitary flight suit, we'll see how that goes!

Thanks everyone!!

I found a picture of the riding patch pattern in the gallery. Still unsure about the elastic straps and what this should look like! Thanks again guys.

Hey bud well the thigh elastics are just 50mm (2") black elastic available from anywhere. The thigh suede most buy from Tandy leather, choose the thinnest black pig suede they sell. Size wise well everyone is different mate, you will need to print out the pattern on here and then re size it untill t looks the right scale on you and sew. Tuck the thigh elastic under the edges of the suede as you sew in on.

Its best to mark all the way around the suede with chalk before sewing and also mark the position of the elastic so you know 100% where everything needs to be

Just a friendly hint, the straps go a bit higher up than expected, so make sure you measure them while wearing the undersuit! And they sit tight, not loose.

For the riding patch pattern I copied the image you find on the boards into Word, I then measured along the seam of the undersuit to get the length good, and then by using the ruler in Word I scaled the picture to be the exact length and then printed it on A3 paper. The picture has a line that will go along the inner seam, so it's a good measurement point. For the width measure the same way to get it looking good on your frame.

Oh, and another hint, keep a good count on those pins when you attach everything. I forgot one in the exactly *wrong* place. Man, that hurt...

Great pointers Patrik! Thanks for sharing :) Oh...and sorry to hear about your painful experience. Ouch!!! You're the second person I've read about this week who's Scout build drew blood.

I also drilled myself in the thumb when I did my knees.. I guess it's a way to become "blood brother" with your armor. After all, one of the most famous scouts in ROTJ was a native american, Lighting Bear :)

Lol. I hope I can still become "blood brother" by choice, instead of by accident though. Both of yours sound painful...especially the prick from the pin :/

Ouch! Patrick, thanks for the hints man! LOL! I appreciate that and the good information too. I am in that phase of my build right now, so I want to get it right.
