Flying with your costume

Hi there, I am still very new to the forums and haven't finished my build yet.. in fact I only have a few of my pieces. I hope to have in done in time for Celebration Europe II however I'm constantly finding myself worried about how I would get the costume over there without any damage...

The armour parts themselves haven't concerned me too much yet as I can pad them out and put the in main suitcase. The helmet is what is making me worry... It won't fit inside cabin luggage, which was my initial idea, and I'm worried about it's safety in the main suitcase!

How has everyone travelled with their helmets before? I know on some long-haul flights you are allowed a personal item which will fit in your lap but I'm not sure if this is the case flying from the UK to Germany with Jet2.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

I put all mine in a hard case and everything was fine both ways last time I trooped abroad. I will however be driving over to CE2 so not so much of a panic this time round.

If its in a hard case and packed well youl be fine, its a good idea to have pictures of yourself in costume and a description of what it is, is a good idea for customs

When on troops I use one of those motor biker fleece lined carry bags, I then wrapped that in a little bubble wrap too, the armor itself wont break in the case. A hard case is best the soft ones will give a little when stacked and could stress the armour
