DarthShlomo Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Alright. I've been digging through the boards using the search function and zooming in on screen caps all night. And I am looking for some input from the more experienced TB's here. The cummerbund has some overlap at the top from the chest armor. That I get, and I am assuming that if it comes up to the pectoral I should be fine for overlap from the chest armor, correct? But it is the bottom that I am curious about. The CRL says that there should be no gap between the belt and cummerbund. And some of the reference pics show that the belt and cummerbund do not overlap, but basically butt up against each other with the cummerbund ending at the bottom of the pouches. This means that the crotch flap is a little longer so the curved stitching on the crotch flap is just below the belt in front. This would give me a vertical measurement of the belt pouch plus about 3". But it looks like some people have the cummerbund long enough so that the belt sits on top of the cummerbund. What method do you recommend? Which is better?
4505Marcel Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Yes have the bottom of the bund sit level with the bottom of the belt, the bund must not show below the belt mate, I say have the bund come up to about nipple height that way there is enough lap at the top for the armour Ive never heard or seen any reference to the bund finishing level with the belt butted up together?
Darth Voorhees Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 When i made mine, towards the center on top its actually about 1.5" taller to make sure it stays under the armor. On the bottom mine goes about halfway into the belt (behind it). This is so agian, it doesnt slip out and you see lines of black. My belt actually snaps onto the cummerbund. Keeps everything lined up and neat looking. I can post pics if you'd like
DarthShlomo Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Alright. Thanks for the input. The images I was looking at are in this thread. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9637&hl=%2Bvertical+%2Bstitching&fromsearch=1 This deff shows the cummerbund stopping at the belt. But if everyone does it where the belt sits on top of the cummerbund, then that is how I will do it.
DarthShlomo Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Here is a screen cap that is a really good pic showing that the cummerbund ends at the bottom of the pouch. http://s1167.photobucket.com/albums/q627/Arnie_DK/BR%20stills/?action=view¤t=Bunker2.jpg
DarthShlomo Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Here is what I came up with. The pouches are just pinned on since I made those to be velcro'd to the chest armor. Also, notice there is no camel toe. What do ya think?
shdwtrpr13 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 hmm I like this, the bind does appear to go under the belt about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way in the screens. this does help a lot and if I may ask my own question... I'm planning to have the bind go high enough that it hides under the chest armor strap. does that sound like it would be idea?
Southscout Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I'm planning to have the bind go high enough that it hides under the chest armor strap. does that sound like it would be idea? Yes, definitively. Have the bund high enough so that it's fully covered by the strap.
shdwtrpr13 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 ok last question, is the 6 stitch approachable by 501st standards? I've noticed that it says 7 in the cell still
bwattsup Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 ok last question, is the 6 stitch approachable by 501st standards? I've noticed that it says 7 in the cell still 6 or 7 are both acceptable Alex. There's a thread on the BSN where it was debated in the past. If you're a thinner scout, 5 ribs/6 lines looks a little better. Go with what looks right with your pouches on.
4505Marcel Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Yes either is fine, it does say either in the CRL bud
