Guest MilesD37
Sorry to have to post this again, incase someone answered the last one- i was apparently lost between servers ;-) I've been throwing around the idea of creating biker scout armor for awhile, and was directed here- that y'all were the ones to ask... I'm a motorcycle rider- and in the spirit of this i was going to create my helmet around a 3/4 helmet (or modular helmet to get the flip visor action, if i can find one that's not to bulky in the front) so my question is, can you create a larger to scale version of the scout trooper helmet and still be accepted into 501st/lancers? or should i have one for on/off bike? the motorcycle helmet is based on the assumption that i'll be riding in armor, and want a DOT approved bucket on me- especially if i rock it in a helmet state thanks guys! Griffin-X
I'm a rider (own a Harley) and like your idea. But, unless the helmet really looks like something used in the ROTJ movie, it's not going to be approvable. I'm thinking it would be hard to make a DOT approved helmet and stay within the tight constraints of something similar to what is used on screen. However, I have seen some really cool Star Wars motorcycle helmets online. There's a ton of Stormtrooper, Tie, and other helmets with air brushing done to make them look similar. Not really accurate, but still look cool. I did find this one a few months back and thought it was cool. I've thought about doing the air brush thing and adding details to make it look better. Pandatrooper
Also keep in mind that the shape of the cap is quite different from motorcycle to the movie design. Also, from a safety and legal perspective the limited visibility of the eye opening and side visor blinders would not be street legal. Believe me, I have considered a similar idea as a secondary helmet but it would not be safe for street use.

lonewolf
I have thought about the "blinkers" visor and just how bad it would be for aerodynamics. Cool design but I suspect very impractical.

NegativeEleven
I repainted an old motorcycle helmet to match Boba Fett's. You know when people find out you have a Fett helmet and a motorcycle, they always ask "do you wear that when you ride?"I didn't bother modifying the shape though. It gets the idea across and when people recognize it they're always impressed.
