Alright everybody, here is my attempt with the SC helmet. I am using the plastik only version incl. visor from SC, Decals from TB and Nose from ebay.

Now its drying time. Soon I can start with the finishing works.

I used E6000 glue, does anybody have an idea or tipp about removing it from the helmet? Silicone-remover?

I'm very happy to see someone working on one of these, I myself am building an SC helmet right now. I'm going to be putting the screen in the ears today and hopefully get the screws in. Did you glue the visor to the faceplate?

Here's where I am

I have not attached the visor. I am a bit scared about it and actually don`t know how to do it properly.

Progress with the bucket.

The helmet is a bit tight, specialy because of my glasses. I have the feeling, that I need to go the MLC route....

I thought MLC was a tight lid too. You may have to go the KS route if you want extra room as well.

What's your head circumference?

Posted

It's so hard to know exactly what lid to go with. Wish they had a virtual fitting room on the Internet. ;)

Where does it feel too snug at Ben?

Posted

Wow, that is tight. Nothing like having the bridge of your nose mashed in. Can you trim more at the top of the snout to accommodate? Maybe some padding on the top to push your eye level further down.

Posted

No, I tried the maximum. Its pushing at the sides and my glasses are really small.

Bottom line is: I need a bigger bucket.

Posted

Sorry :( just trying to help. I really need to get in touch with my future garrison so I can try on different lids. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the heads up.... The chances were 50/50 to fit.

I will go the MLC v3 route I think.

OK. After the first try I ordered a KS Helmet Kit. Arrived last week friday and I started to build it instantly.

Here is what it looks like right now. I used the 3M Bolt kit available here in the market place.

The KS helmet gives me the couple % of a bigger size I needed. No more problems with my glasses.

I ordered the decals from trooperbay as well as another nose greeble. Should be OK, right?

Not just the bucket is coming together well, I am working on the boots as well.

Looks like you are doing just fine. Keep it up...! :)

Thanks.... What would you so... paint the inside black? I am at the point where this decision needs to be made.

Posted

I personally do not have mine painted black. I've got black material behind the ear sections though which creates depth inside the helmet.

I did some progress on my bucket as well. I had a big point to handle... attaching the visor. But I found a easy way including a pair of snaps, some hotglue and a piece of elastic.

Und mir ist ne recht einfache Art der Befestigung des Visors für den Helm eingefallen, da hatte ich noch Probleme mit, jetzt nicht mehr. Schnell austauschbar, hält gut und alles wird gut.. ;)

Works just finde, I think I will redo the connection with 2k Epoxy.
