Mudflap and saddle patch questions

silent

Recommended Posts

Ok looking to order the suede for my mudflap and saddle patch. Want to make sure that this http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/9121-01.aspx is the correct suede that I need. Next question is how many sq feet does it normally take? I definately do not want to little, but I also don't want a ton to much.(was at Jo-Anns fabrics yesterday and think I really overdid it on the fabric for the cumberbund and vest)

Yup, that's the right kind. The size will depend on your personal measurements. Approx width of your hips, and the height from your belt to the bottom of your butt cheeks. Make sure to have some material for the attachment to your undersuit (sewn on, velcro, snaps, etc.)

The riding patches also depend on your size. Approx. length would be about middle of where the zipper would be on jeans to about 3" above your knee pads. Again, just approximate measurements.

They used to sell it just by the hide not by the foot which is a pain now, but yes thats the right stuff

I actually am wondering if that is still how it is, site says the 7 ft is an estimate and you sill be billed for the exact size

Also curious I see that it says to remove the pockets, was already planning on the rear pockets and the upper ones, do you have to remove what would be the front pants pockets as well?

I asked that exact same question in another thread. That's depressing to know Eagerly :/ I was hoping the front pockets could at least just be sewn over since they are in the natural pattern for the Redkap coverall. I haven't found a suit of any type that doesn't have front pockets here in the States. Guess this is gonna make me have to open up the budget even further. Man, this is one expensive hobby :)

Cha-Ching, Cha-Ching, Cha-Ching!!!!

Slap a PM to your own Clearance officer. They will tell you the definitive answer.....Don't forget each outpost of the 501st has different clearance procedures, so you might be good to stitch them. I was advised for the UKG this was not advisable, so i got one without.....Before you spend more check with your Unit it may be fine
