Griffin-X Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Not a bad idea. I did up an E-11 with a flat black that almost looks grey in color. I primed it first with automotive grey oxide primer, hit it with a really flat black, then weathered it doing a dry brush silver. The end result is almost a grey-ish-black finish.
Guest xphiledgex Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I believe that it is more along the lines of a firearm color. I think the dark grey or black would work as long as it is flat, just my opinion

Havok69 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Now use your imagination, these are the plans I have drawn up for the muzzel/ flash hider, Im hoping I can sweet talk the wifes brother into machining this for me. Now that's something you should have him machine up a few of!
4505Marcel Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 I will be casting it mate once done, the guns will cost way too much with machined parts, Im lucky and have mates and family who will make a master. Theres no way I can get lots done, resin will be fine, I am planning on having an ali inner barrel for strength. Got the reciever primered today, and the barrel is at my college being welded up and picking it up next week
4505Marcel Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 Got the reciever painted up today, it needs to be wet flatted and a matt clear coat added. But I will leave as is for now as it will mold better. If I weather it now all the marks may show in the castings
4505Marcel Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 There is a few odd marks, and some wood grain can be seen here and there, but Im happy with it. I could sand that for ever and not get it all out, I think its ok as is.
gowinme Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Looks fantastic! Will look forward to the finished product!
4505Marcel Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Thanks guys, barrel should be back from welding tomorrow, and a lump of ali went of to my brother in law to machine the flash hider, stay tuned
4505Marcel Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Im still waiting on the barrel and muzzel so no updates Im affraid, I guess it will be next week now before I get them back
Havok69 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Can't wait to see more. Hopefully if you do offer this up as a kit, shipping to the USA isn't too much.
4505Marcel Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Still no updates im affraid, My barrel isnt back as it is being done as a favour they dont seem to be rushing it. And the misses bro cant do the muzzel so going to have to pay to get that done, Ive hopefully found a guy on the UKG who maybe able to do it, how much for though I dont know. But I will have a go at casting it for sure.
Chef Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 What bit's need doing Marcel? We've just got a new TIG Welder at work, so should be good to go with aluminium welding. Just in case you get stuck.
4505Marcel Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 The welding is fine mate thank you, my college are doing it. Just not very quick as they are doing it as a favour. Its getting the muzzel machined out of ali which is the issue bud.
Chef Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Ahhhh, can't that chap on the Garrison forum do it for you? Is ECO his screen name? Here's his thread. https://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=41601
4505Marcel Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Yes hes the chap I mentioned bro, all depends on costs really
4505Marcel Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Nah alls good bro, I appreciate you trying to help. I got the barrel back today so will get busy with the filler and get that sucker painted up
4505Marcel Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 Not too much to report, barrel came back from the welders, needs filling and spraying but it fits well. I may well make a angled section where the barrel meets the reciever to make that area a little pleasing on the eye. But its starting to take shape
4505Marcel Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 Forgot to say one of my Garrison buddies has come to my rescue with the muzzel / flash hider so that is now under way and being machined out of ali
Griffin-X Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 That is really looking sharp, I like how it's coming together Marcel!
