dontyell
Can someone help me sort out all this rivet stuff? I've never dealt with them before and I'm not even sure where to get them. Is this something that I just pick up at the local hardware store (Lowes/ Home Depot), or a a craft store (Michaels, AC Moore)? I've seen lots of discussions over at FISD about split rivets and pop rivets and other stuff like that, what is best, what is needed, what in the world am I supposed to be doing? ") Thanks
Pandatrooper
Pretty much all the rivets on a scout are basic pop rivets. You need the aluminum rivets (I used 1/8" diameter x 1/8" or 1/4" long on most of my build) and the pop rivet gun itself. Don't forget to get some 1/8" backing washers too. The rivets are mainly used for the ends of the belt, the back, the knees and the boot holster. The rivets on a TK are totally different. The ones on the side of the torso are split rivets which look similar to the ones you put through a stack of paper that you find at a stationery store. dontyell
Thanks for the info! I just found your immensely helpful build thread where you mentioned using the pop rivets. Sure can't wait for my armor to come in, the wait is killing me.
