Guest BS1
K I'm goin lancer for first build. Had to buy of white strapping for the thigh boxes. And I was thinking now I have a dilemma my pouches are white... k so brewed up a batch of Lipton tea and. soaked them for a min @ a time till they matched the same color if my thigh strapes.. it is a perfect offwhite match.. has anyone else tried this? Pandatrooper
I have done that for TK parts and other costumes in the past. You might want try mix some salt in some boiling water and soak the pouches in them. I have used that trick before with fabric dyes, that will help "set" the dye. You might want to test on a scrap piece of fabric first.

lonewolf
I have used a beige dye for pouches and it was quite good, I washed them a couple of times to get the shade I wanted. I have used the tea dying method for my Jack Sparrow shirt and sash. I do have to redye the shirt after a few washes to keep the shade. The problem with dying anything is the uncertainty how it will end up, tea dying is a nice cheap way to darken things and I have a nice wee cup of tea as I do it! 4505Marcel
I used tea the dye method on my tusken, but found sticking new white pouches, and the drop box straps and side straps in a bowl of weakened down dylon stone dye gives a better result than trying to match things up later, just get them all the same to start with is my suggestion for those starting out. But yes it does work as long as the end result is the same, I've stopped offering off white pouches now, as I feel dying together is the way to go for perfect finish
Guest BS1
I used tea cause could not find a fabric dye light enough to dye with... The end result was good, but pouches are slightly darker then the utility box straps. . Easy fix though...
4505Marcel
I used the Dylon stone colour, one hit pouch rather than the bigger box they sell. I left it in the dye half as long as recomended and washed them twice. But any way giving a good result will do bro

silverBoyd
I've dyed my shoulder canvas straps on my Sandtrooper using tea. Turned out perfect.
pleasum
Did the tea for my belt strapping. Matches the pouches great! They were just a bit dark at first but I ran the strap under water for a bit and it lightened up real nice.
Pandatrooper
Always best to go lighter and have to dye twice, rather than too dark!
