Starting my boot build

Just got these beauties in the mail:

 

 

Their true size is definitely about a half size larger than what is listed. I'm an 11.5, and these are listed as size 11. They fit perfectly. They are quite possibly the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. Once this costume is complete, I'm only going to want to troop as a Biker Scout!

 

The first step will be to mark the soles for cutting, time to start checking out screen shots.

 

One question about building up the boot; would white leather be accpetable for Lancer? I positively hate vinyl and would much prefer to build my boot with leather instead. Leather lasts longer and wears much better in my opinion...

Been checking out the prices of leather and I decided to just go with vinyl. It was an easy sell since I had a 50% off coupon, bringing the cost of a yard of vinyl down to $9. Oh well, I have enough to make a few pairs if it wears out. Now I'm just hangin the vinyl up in the garage to off-gas some of the smell before I use it.
