Hey guys, it's been a while. I finally finished my chest armor version 2. I scaled up the model by 113%, and voilà! With the smaller version, the chest was cracking each time I passed my head through the shoulder straps and was just too tight around the chest. I still need to add the top elastic band, but I feel the shoulder straps might need adjustments Just a couple more details to fix on the soft parts, like adjusting the vest arm length, and I'll be ready to suit up!
-
Quick update. I received my Crowprops boots last Monday. The fit is just perfect and they are the exact same height as my homemade pair. Lastly, I've been doing some sewing. I made some adjustments to the flight suit; the arms were a bit loose. I also redid the codpiece attachment on the flak vest, using hooks and loops on the front and a parachute buckle on the back. Next on the list: decide if I'll be using underfoot elastic straps or fabric ankle pieces to keep those flight suit legs tight. As for the chest armor and tank, I'm in the painting phase. Almost done, take 2

The new chest armor is done printing, and with the scale-up, I can say that it's now at the point of being comfortable. I have a question about the tank dial. In the Scoutpedia, the Tank Greeblie pic shows that the base of it seems to be white. Is this how it should be?
-
For the belt back straps, I'm going to use your snap technique, Chopper. I should receive them tomorrow. I've decided to redo the chest armor from scratch. When I test-fitted everything, the chest was just too tight for me once the suit and vest were on. There is probably way less flexibility in 3D printed parts than in thermoformed ones. Scaling up the chest also means I need to redo the tank and its greeblies. Oh, and the tea trick to dye the elastic shoulder bridge worked like a charm, perfect color match. But since I dyed them after gluing them, the coloration is slightly different where there is glue. All of this will be fix in the 2.0 version.

I'm about to sew those side box straps, and I want your opinion about placement, height, etc. Once that's done, I'll be ready for my first full suit-up!!

Hello Mr. Mike, I used to work with XTC 3D, and I found out that using 3D print resin mixed with baby powder is way more forgiving. It's also much cheaper and easier to sand. You can control the viscosity by changing your mix ratio. Additionally, when you cure resin with a UV lamp, it dries instantly; there's no need to wait for the product to cure. I encourage you to read my WIP and poke me if you have any questions. I'm not a scout expert, but I've printed/post process a lot of stuff.

Question about the belt and the drop box strapping. I'm planning on sewing the straps onto the belt, and I was wondering if the straps need to be behind the belt at the end, or can I have one in front and the other behind the belt?
-
No problem, sir. I already made the mistake when I glued them on last weekend. Time for a strong tea and dye. I'm going to do some testing on scrap elastic pieces.
-
Ok thank you Chopper. I got confused by this line: Optional: Shoulder bridges match color or pouches and drop box straps.
-
Just to be sure, my pouches are off-white, as are the drop box straps. Should the side straps of the chest armor and the elastic on the shoulder bridge also be off-white?

Today I finished the helmet. Touched up the nose black paint, glued the aerator piece, installed the visor, applied black tape to the inner ears and added the tactical liner. I still need to make some adjustments to the liner to achive the perfect fit, but it's getting close. I also completed most of the elastics work on the armour. Only the belt and weebing left to do. Then, suit up and take pictures!!!

Tip of the day: Do not use steel rivets on 3D printed parts. Not only are they harder to remove, but they are also too strong and will break the parts. I had one mixed up with my aluminum ones... I'm not taking any chances now; I make sure to test them with a magnet before popping them off. A knee armor died in the field, so we received this information.😅

I know the feeling, Chris. I made my first pair of boots myself and made some big mistakes, like using the wrong leather pattern and 3/4 inch Velcro instead of 1 inch, etc... So I decided to order a pair from Crowprops. But I was proud of those first boots! Heheheh Also, great work on your build! I'm following it with great interest.

Hey guys, it's time for a little update. Last Monday, the week started with me losing my job. After 16 years at Eidos, I got fired along with 96 other great co-workers. It's a hard time for video games. But now, I've got time! I need to keep my hands and head busy. So, the painting is almost done. Only the belt remains, and some touch-ups on the black nose section. I'm pretty happy with the results so far, smooth and shiny! Next stop, elastics, webbing, rivets and Velcro. Let me know!

Hey MrMike! In the GA folder I received there is the Sticker Version model file: Scout Trooper - Back V3 - Sticker Version - Ears Cut Out Here you go! Ho and let me know if you need the rear vent stickers I made. I'll send you the JPG. Because the Trooperbay version is just a tad too big.
