  1. Hi Everybody, I've been hanging around the fringes of here and the UK garrison forums for a few months now, doing my research and plotting my build. I've finally gotten the bits together so figured it was time to start a WIP. Since I started lurking the Imperial Scottish Squad has become the Imperial Scottish Garrison so I've put a WIP on their forums as well and am waiting on a garrison armourer to be appointed. I'm tempted to go for lancer status but main priority is just getting something that meets 501st standards. I used to work making props/puppets/prosthetics/etc for LARP and theatre but that was a good number of years ago and working in plastic is entirely new to me so I'm likely to be looking for most advice on that side of things. I've got everything except the gloves from Chef's Creations here in the UK (gloves from Wampa Wear). I've got the armour as a kit so I can trim it and fit it properly to me. Looking forward to getting started. Thanks in advance for your help/advice/support Cheers, Simon
  2. Guess that’ll have to tide me over until BBB day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Well I finally but the bullet and went ahead and ordered some stuff. I’m getting most of the kit from Chef’s Creations. I’m going to get the helmet pre-assembled but the armour as a kit. I figure I can make sure the armour fits well and have the helmet as a reference for the kind of standard I’m aiming for. The one bit Chef doesn’t do is the gloves so I’ve ordered those from Wampa Wear. I figure it’s probably best to just have a WIP on the UK Garrison forum rather than have one here as well but am happy to do both if you think that’s worthwhile/helpful Thanks again for all the support and advice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for the helpful insights and suggestions. I’ve think I’ve mostly decided what to try but I’ll let things mull over the weekend and read a few more WIPs. I’ll keep you guys posted on any progress Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hi everybody, Just getting started on my 501st journey. I’ve been doing some research and pondering the options for a ROTJ scout. I’d appreciate any advice you guys have to give. I’m based in the UK and suspect that it’ll be easier to get something locally produced if possible. I’d be keen to get something as accurate and high quality as possible. I can also see the attraction of getting as much as possible from one supplier - should mean it all works well together. So, I’m very tempted by RS Prop masters. However, I’d like to do some of the fitting and so forth myself. Getting back to costuming and working with my hands is part of the reason for getting involved. Also, I’d like things to fit as well as possible. From their website it looks like RS only do ready to wear out of the box scout armour. Anyone else from the UK done a scout build recently? Any more experienced scouts care to offer some suggestions? Many thanks in advance, Simon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
