Flight suit for very small women
DarthSnark replied to DarthSnark's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Thanks so much for your reply, I would definitely be interested in photos! I think I have decided that a two piece undersuit is going to be the best option. I'm thinking I'll just sew my own from scratch at this point but if you know of a good source for purchasing a top and pants that would work I'm definitely interested. -
This is all just speculation, but I'm wondering if the soles of the boots you're using are made from a different material than the Kingshow boots many use. I believe I recall that other people who have used different boots have also found the soles more difficult to cut. As far as a different method maybe a dremel or a hot knife would be easier? (again, just throwing stuff out there, I'm sure there's someone who has experienced this who can offer a real answer)

Thanks for the reply! I think Timberlands does make an all black boot (the requirement for the shadow scout) but they're outside my price range to buy new, especially for a costume build. Thanks for the advice though! I'll keep looking around (possibly I can find a used pair online), I'm not really in a rush as my build is on hold at the moment anyways.

Do you happen to have a link to the boots you're using by any chance? I wear a (EU) size 36-37 and I've been having a bit of trouble finding boots.

Flight suit for very small women
DarthSnark replied to DarthSnark's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Thanks for this! I'm beginning to think sewing my undersuit myself is the best option, especially after seeing how well your soft parts turned out in your build thread, Jenny. I saw that you posted the pattern for the pants in your build thread, do you also have a pattern for the jacket? -
I'm not an expert by any measure, but have you tried using hot water or a heat gun to shape some of the armor pieces? It might make it easier to tell where you need to trim. I'm building a shadow scout, and when I was looking for armor the makers I contacted said their armor likely wouldn't fit me without a lot of trimming (I'm even smaller than you at about 5'2"). I looked into WTF child armor as well but Walt said it was designed for kids under 5 feet and didn't recommend it. I've ultimately decided to go with far away creations (though right now I'm still coming up with the cash lol and haven't ordered), but even that kit (which is on a bit of the smaller or closer to screen used side) would still require heat shaping and trimming, especially on the shoulder bridges. As another upside far away creations has the option of smaller size shoulder bells for their scout. Does SC offer smaller sized shoulder bells? Anyways good luck- I'll be following to see what you come up with.

Studio Creations armor/helmet kit
DarthSnark replied to Vraeden's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
My helmet kit just arrived the other day and I've been wondering the same thing. I was thinking maybe sewing the end of the elastic to something less stretchy (like a piece of nylon webbing) and then just gluing it in? But I haven't actually tried it yet so I'm not sure how it would work out. -
I read the amazon reviews once... there were about 2-3 people using it for a welding helmet and a bunch of people showing of their mandalorian, scout, and think even a tie pilot helmet. Anyways I bought one for a mandalorian helmet I built out of EVA foam, worked great.

Barge is the brand I believe. You can get other "off brand" contact cements at the hardware store but I've heard many people prefer the Barge for its strength (I've used the off brand but it was for a different application).

Looking awesome! Thanks for the pics I may copy this setup.

Nooooo! I was getting really excited watching you finish this build. It's your decision of course- but maybe give it another look after you finish Vader?

Alright. Thanks. -
Speedglas Bolt Assembly
DarthSnark replied to clockworksoldier's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I know this is an old thread but I am actually looking for the bolts in black for my shadow scout helmet- does anyone know if the bolts from amazon are concave/ the proper size? -
Thank you. I will probably end up ordering the medium because a little loose is probably better than too tight.
-
Just wondering, what size does your hand measure? I'm considering ordering the wampawear gloves myself, but at 7.5 around the website recommends a medium, which seems a bit weird since I'm usually a small and medium gloves have been really loose on me in the past. Are they true to the size stated in the size chart?

Another tip for getting sharp corners when you are turning something right side out is to clip the extra material from your seam allowance as shown in this picture before turning it right side out. I personally usually use a chopstick for this.

I think this tutorial might already be on this forum, but if you need a tutorial for the vest this should work. (This link is from the specops forum but I think they originally got it from this forum) https://forum.specops501st.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1433

Tusken Raider turned Biker Scout
DarthSnark replied to Cat's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" WIP
I found this flight suit that I'm considering for my shadow scout, it needs modifications for CRLs (plus the additional tie fighter modifications for your costume), but if it will fit you, the price is less than adult options. I am smaller than you though so it's possible it wouldn't fit you, so definitely measure yourself. I have had the same issue with adult flight suits being too large, but I'm hoping the child suit will fit better, (I haven't purchased it because I'm still in the planning stage of my costume) especially since I found another small woman on the internet who was able to use it. https://www.armysurplusworld.com/kids-black-flight-suit -
Flight suit for very small women
DarthSnark replied to DarthSnark's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I believe the CRL for the flight suit of the shadow scout is virtually identical to biker scout, they even link to biker scout reference images. I hadn't considered a two-piece flight suit but will definitely look into that as well. -

I was hoping not to have to order something custom made and avoid the premium price, but it's good to know the seller is trustworthy in case I decide to order. I dug around online and found this child-size flight suit that should fit me based on the measurements: https://www.armysurplusworld.com/kids-black-flight-suit Would this be up to CRL standards if it were modified with the proper collar closure and the zippers were removed? -

Thank you for the quick response, unfortunately I have ordered those exact coveralls and they were still too big. They also don't have zipper closure, which isn't the end of the world but for me personally was annoying. -
Hi, I'm not actually 18 (still in the Galactic Academy), so I have a while to build my scout costume. Right now I'm still trying to price everything out. I eventually want to build a shadow scout but since the flight suit is the same as the regular biker scout to my knowledge I thought I would ask my question here. I'm a 5'1" gall and about 103lbs. I know how to sew pretty well so moderate modifications isn't an issue. I have had bad experiences trying to purchase a flight suit in the past because as far as I've been able to tell they don't come in my size. Any advice on how I might be able to get a suit that actually fits?
