  1. Definitely following your build, Dennis! Your method of documentation and links to things you've purchased so far is invaluable. I've just started my own Scout build and will be watching yours eagerly as you work a few steps ahead of me! Would you mind sharing how much white cotton fabric you purchased for your cummerbund and cod piece construction? I'm ordering online and want to make sure I get enough fabric. Thank you!
  2. Any updates on this project? I'm just starting my own 3D-printed Scout and am trying to absorb all of the knowledge I can as I start printing things out
  3. Hey! Awesome! I just read your post on the gloves. At this point I may stick with how they look while I get other parts of my costume underway, but I really appreciate the walk through on how you are going to adjust them! Once I'm confident I've got the rest of the outfit where I want it I'm sure I'll return to the gloves. Thank you for the motivation and well wishes!
  4. Here are some shots of the EC-17 Holdout Blaster, files by MrPoopie: And some shots of the boots I found:
  5. Hello everyone! After a few weeks of lurking, I'm finally starting my build log for my Scout Trooper costume! All of my armor will be 3D printed using @MrPoopie's awesome files and the helmet file from Jesus Salmeron on CGTrader (https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/other/wearable-scout-trooper-helmet-by-jesus-salmeron-3d-print-model). My goal has been to create this costume in the most affordable way possible, while being as accurate as I can manage with my current budget. I also want to document as much as I can throughout the process to help others who are attempting similar, budget oriented builds to mine. I'm hoping to debut the costume at GenCon in Indianapolis, provided it doesn't get canceled due to the virus concerns passing around presently. As for a little information about me, I am a mechanical engineer that works in the prototyping business. I've also got a background in product design and my hobbies all revolve around making things. I also run Dungeons & Dragons sessions for my friends and do a lot of woodworking/painting for fun. So far I have the following items for my outfit in hand: Belleville C790 GTX Boots, $10 (https://tacticalgear.com/belleville-c790-gtx-coyote-brown) (Found at Goodwill for $10! Though I did go to 7 Goodwills before I found them) So, the soles for these aren't exactly the color I wanted, but $10 for $180 boots? That are comfortable and broken in? And fit me? Yeah, these are going to work well. Under Armour Balaclava, $20 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RWF2Q8A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I read in a few places that this is the most recommended balaclava for sweating out the warm weather. Worth the money from everything I've seen. Red Kap Black Coverall, size 36, $31 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007EZ1CN8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) This thing fits like a glove- well, at least from my crotch to my shoulders. Just need to taper the legs and arms a bit to get the fit juuust right. I actually ordered a 36 and 34, planning to return the smaller one 1 yard of white marine vinyl for making the boots ($7 on sale from Joann's last week! Still on sale right now actually.) (https://www.joann.com/marine-vinyl/prd23669.html) A black suede jacket from Goodwill, $3.50 (50% off sale) I'll be cutting this up to make the suede riding patches on the flight suit and the back of the fingers on the gloves. EC-17 3D print from MrPoopie, estimated cost to print: $5 max Printed at home on my CR-10S in bubblegum Pink I just ordered: Gauntlet Motorcycle gloves, $14.50 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019T5QD70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I'm actually really excited about how close these look to the screen-used ones. I can't justify the $60 WampaWear gloves right now, but these will definitely look the part in the meantime! 5 yards of 2" Wide Black Elastic, $7 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071D37ZDS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 3D Files I have ready for printing: MrPoopie's 3D files for the Scout Trooper Armor, Free (You absolutely rock, MrPoopie) Jesus Salmeron's Scout Trooper Helmet Files from CGTrader, $28 after discount with CGTrader credits (https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/other/wearable-scout-trooper-helmet-by-jesus-salmeron-3d-print-model) Jesus is currently working on opening the ear holes on the helmet, so I am waiting to start printing that until he releases those files. Very excited to print the helmet! There is a helmet on Thingiverse for free, but after staring at helmet pictures for WAY TOO LONG, I realized Jesus' files were much closer to screen accurate- and if I'm going to put a ton of work into getting the helmet looking nice- I want it to be accurate at the end. That will be all for now! Next steps will be altering the flightsuit, finishing the EC-17 blaster, or working on the boots! Thanks for reading!
