  1. Well, I ended up scrapping the SGB helmet as it is too big for my frame. The good news is that I got my 3D printer working again! (Yay faulty motherboards!) So I am printing the Sean Fields kit using PLA, although I have a shipment of PLA+ inbound to finished the rest with.
  2. I had some questions regarding the vanguard status for the helmet. On the CRL the following criteria need to be met: - Chin Cup and strap added (hard hat chin strap with cup with 3 oblong cut outs) Q: Does anyone had a good link for the chin cup/strap? - Lenses are curved Q: What does it mean by lens must be curved? (Aren't all lens curved on helmets to fit the profile?) - Second ridge on top of the tear drop that's sits against the lens must be present. Q: Does anyone have a close up of this? - Under the blaster shield and above the lens, there is the black recess curve, at each end there are 3 oblong shaped recess each 5mm x 3mm. (Optional) Q: Does anyone have a close up of this?
  3. Finally managed to get some free time to keep working on my Shoretooper! Getting everything cut out with the drill and mill bits. Also cleaning up the bottom edges so I can go through and hit it with sand paper. Hope every has an enjoyable holidays!
  4. So after doing the rough trimming of the bottom, I was looking around at some of the other peoples work and noticed several people cut/printed out holes around where the red circle is. I assume this is for a speaker? I was curious if anyone had done this with an SGB, or any other resin kit and if they used the original greeb for it? The idea sounds pretty good to me, although not sure if it would be easier just using the provided greeb and using a drill press to drill through the holes in the greeb, and cut a small circle to mount the speak up with.
  5. So I finally managed to get my Shoretrooper bucket from SGB (international shipping is a pain). I know a few people recommend SGB buckets but one thing I noticed is this is YUGE! I have a very narrow face so getting the padding down for this is going to be interesting! I had a few immediate questions regarding the helmet/build: 1: Standing at 5'8, is this helmet too large for me? It feels absolutely massive! 2: Regarding the little blobs of resin, what is the best way to go about removing them without damaging the bucket? 3: I know artists like to sign their work, but do I need to sand down the logo for approval? 4: Is this kit Vanguard approvable? and what is the best armor to pair with this bucket? With that being said SGB said they use a fiberglass/resin mix for their buckets and I have only worked with pure resin in the past. I have a dremmel and can buy various attachments but this is my first time going this route, so friendly suggestions and recommendations are more than welcome! I look forward to keeping you all updated on my progress!
  6. Although I haven't printed any armor, ABS is much better than PLA when you need some durable printed parts. The downside to it, is that it usually is more expensive due to the set up required to keep it warm during the printing process. I would think if the kit maker used thicker walls (2-3mm) you could use some fine sand paper to smooth it out for the primer.
