Helmet Painting and Weathering by Paul Prentice
Rad replied to TheDon's topic in Shoretrooper Armor/Helmet
Most of his pictures heās ever taken are on his Facebook page Mr Paulās Shoretrooper . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Paul has had all kinds of problems with suppliers and parts , some of which have gone up hundreds of percent past whatever you were quoted. He has also had to take a 9-5 job on a while back and is having a difficult time with home life atm. He is a very decent and good guy , and a legion member, just bear with and extend a bit of kindness and understanding. I know him well and he is struggling. Thanks troopers , be kind be well.

3-D Printing ST Captain using Sean Field's Files
Rad replied to arobertson66's topic in Shoretrooper WIP
Hi Ashley, Realised making the captain so edited [emoji38] CRL states ā no visible print linesā so smooth as bud [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The chest, buckles and straps , armour faulds , bells and helmet are repainted. The rest is original R1 costume. There is a lot less dirt on the repainted parts and no chips or scuffs/edge wear ,also the helmet is missing lots of black details , terrible overspray on the mouth greeblie and the chest lozenge is not black. Just not blue enough the white blue for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi Weasel, Iām Conrad , uk garrison ST armourer. To answer your question as to how I weathered my STās well itās not quick [emoji1] Been making them for 4 years and I spent about a year researching. My nephew works at Pinewood so I have had incredible help along with Paul Prentice who I know quite well now [emoji38] Both masters of their crafts. They were injection moulded in dark brown urethane and so this is the first thing to replicate. All chips and weathering, then goes down to this level to match screen used. I picked one Grunt and one squad leader from the extensive celebration 2016 photographs and literally had them on screens as I worked. Did my best to copy all the dirt that has built up in the corners, and in all the creases up against the sides of the joining strips and all the chips and scratches. I used liquid mask on the brown base coat, then sprayed Sahara beige and peeled off the masking fluid to reveal chips down to the base coat. I then did all the wear on the edges and scratches . P80 for heavy scratches p120 for edges. Mini belt sander for real touchdown moments and heavy wear areas as this was used at Pinewood. Artists acrylic raw umber and black about 60/40 70/30 umber to black mix and add a little water for washes. Brush or rag it on and leave it , then itās about how much you knock back / take off . Most of it about 70% I rub off then do it again building up your layers. I brushed the creases where it builds up and ragged off again dragging away from the edges to give a soft edge to the dirt. Dissipated. No lines. For the darker dirt on the flats of the armour here and there dirty down dark brown ageing spray ragged on. For carbon scorch flecks dirty down grey. Both screen used. Helmet. So it has a ātank metalā kinda look and to recreate this texture I find the point where the can just lets paint out and hold that to spray and build up spitty coats. 2. Then scratches etc and get a wash on all over and rub most of it off. It naturally finds the low points and stays giving you the overall dirt look. Build up layers of dirt same as above under neck rim , jaw lines , ears , temples etc to match the pics used. Noticed your symbol is not quite aligned right..the cut out part of it should be in line with the edge of blast plate as indicated. After all that you should be close to achieving a great screen used look . Itās not easy obviously as they were made by some of the most talented artists in the business so itās trial and error time but do it enough and you should get the hang of it. My grunt pics are in the vanguard section for reference. Alternatives for ageing sprays are available outside of the uk. Some pics inside and outside in sun. I did most of dirt work outside in natural light. Best of luck with your costume. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Radās Shoretrooper Grunt Vanguard Request (APPROVED)
Rad replied to Rad's topic in Vanguard Deployment Request
Hey team, we are experiencing a heat wave ! 85 degrees, hell of a shock . All on this morning, horrendous. Lasted 20 mins and boiling [emoji38] Redone shoulder elastics and dropped the biceps . I think the bells and arms are sitting nicely now and the foam helps grip the shirt , all keeps the arms in line and sitting where they should. Gaps good distance. I have looked at the faulds and where the shot shells and pouch are from screen grabs and mannequin shots. ( not well dressed ) I think they are in the correct place and think mine are comparable if not sitting slightly better. I think I have addressed all your points team and made the necessary changes. Many thanks guyās for your continued consideration. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hi Team, Thank you for your points. I have redone my plastazote from my original half a square kilometre roll on the back armour and now goes down past the edge line. Weathered the underneath of my helmet visor. Repainted the blueing with Matt black, silver and raw umber and black acrylic dirt , same as the rest of the E22 [emoji106] My faulds were suffering with caseitis [emoji853] Locked away for a year with kit on them has bent the back section and itās floppy so I have reinforced with some of same tape Paul used on them and extended the Velcro tab that fixes onto spine plate and itās got them sitting way better . I will make new elastic and snap shoulder bridges as they are not right for my new bells and see how they hang when done before adjusting the bicep drop, but I think it need 15-20mm more drop anyway. Not quite touching the crease in my arm. I have lined the bells at the top with 6mm foam to lift them slightly so that when the new bridge is made I will snap onto it higher and the 2 measures will hopefully make the bells sit better and not under the plastazote. Waiting for snaps to arrive in post . Hopefully get some more pics up soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
