TB-77520 Lancer Deployment Request (APPROVED)

HI @Chopper Thank you again for the response! Re: the dressing issues, thanks for the reminder. I had my wife help me with suiting up this time around and I must've missed that ... my bad. I will also add some stirrups. The dropbox strap is white cotton webbing per the CRL. Here's a close-up look. -
Ditto the exp above - I got my flak vest from him and he stayed in communication throughout. Shipping is challenging from Bolivia at the moment though, so keep that in mind.

Alright, updated photos! Updates I have made, based on feedback from the team: Balaclava: Tucked in. Butt Flap: Trimmed down to the recommended line. Thigh Strap: Shortened so it's not loose. Cummerbund: Sit on top of belt, not tucked under. Detonator: Realigned the end caps so it's balanced. Holster: Trimmed down the holster to look similar to the CRL holster. Boots: Drilled out rivets, patched with marine material, painted with white paint. -

@Chopper not sure why your post isn't showing up here, but I got a notification in my emails and know what I need to do next. I will trim the flap to the green line before suiting up again tmrw. I will also make sure the belt and the bund doesn't overlap (I know what you mean, finally, now that I'm seeing the photo from the back again). The repairing of the boots - that's exactly what I did tonight as well, hopefully it will show up nicely tmrw. Thank you (and the team) for the feedback! More to come! -

Alright, some updates! Holster Drilled out the old rivets, trimmed down the holster, reattached the holster to the boots. I've patched the drilled out holes from behind, but still somewhat obvious ... I need to think of a different way to make the holes less obvious. Weathering? I don't have black spray paint readily available ... I can just ... throw a bunch of fuller's earth on the boots? Belt and Detonator Re-glued the endcaps to even them out. Flight Suit Instead of chopping right away, I asked my very very very nice wife to help me take some quick photos of the flap pinned back. What do y'all think? -

Ah and now I know what you mean by cannot see clearly the flap in the back. The poor lighting has them all blurring together! Will use flash when I take the next round. -

Oooh, I see what you mean with the flap now. Will get a chance to take a new photo before we trim. Appreciate the feedback on the helmet and the holster. I will get started on them! Thank you! -

Chopper, thank you so much for looking over the submission! Most of the feedback seems like easy fixes. For the larger pieces ... a few clarifications before I make the adjustments - This is the finished Altmann helmet so it came as is (maybe it was the angle that made it look strange). It's indeed a two part dome. I do still have the SC helmet I filled in the seam on - will this work for Lancer? I've folded it back a bit before I trim - will this work? Trimming at the black line - this works? -

Yes sir! Will update the original post accordingly. -
Hi team, TB-77520 here, requesting Lancer Deployment! Appreciate you taking the time to review. I know it's a bit picture-heavy, but I have placed the images in order of the CRL so the review should be hopefully easier. I didn't get an instruction either but it turned out pretty simple ... I checked out other people's build threads and that put me a bit more at ease. Maybe take a look at a few threads and see if you can follow along? This is mine, for example http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21455-Hoda's-Biker-Scout-Build-WIP-(SC)#entry196754 I think it essentially boils down to gluing the top together with the back, gluing the face with the visor, and then just bolting them together. It really wasn't bad at all!
-
I did see that! But man for some reason my order is taking like weeks, so I ordered some more from theclip.
-
Alright! Let's pick this thread back up. Since the last update, I've officially gotten approved as TB-77520! But the work's not done ... time to do some upgrade for Lancer! Fortunately, thanks to all the guidance and posts on this forum, I don't think I am too far off. Hardware-wise, there were two things I needed to make changes to - 1) swap out the helmet bolts for concave bolts, and 2) add metal clips to the detonator. For helmet bolts, I went with Kevin's "full headband kit". I followed Strider's instructions here to install the liner. I then cut out the bolt hole into more of a square hole to install the new bolts from Kevin (forgot to take pictures). Sourcing the metal clips was a bit of a pain! Thank goodness I came across this thread here and ordered a bunch of metal clips from TheClip.com. I was thinking I can order a bunch, do a sales thread, and help folks save on shipping - what do you think? Anyway, I used a hair dryer to melt off the E6000 that was holding the end caps together. Drilled holes on the tube, inserted a rivet, put the washer in to secure the back, put the clip in, and then reattached the end caps. Voila! I think with some proper dressing-up, we should be good to go for Lancer! Now I just have to go ask the missus to take some photos ...
-
Awesome. Thank you for that feedback! When I submit for Lancer (as one should!), I will note the buckle alignment piece. The gloves are taken care of
-
Alright! Some new photos based on Chopper's feedback. I shifted the shoulder bells and made them around the same length to the chest/back armor. Will play with them a bit more to find a comfortable spot for them. Moved bicep armor down to line up just slightly under the bottom edge of the flak vest. Moved dropboxes to the sides of the thighs. Kept an inch or so down from the belt. Reversed the clip so the black portion is visible. Adjusted the strap position in the back so it's closer to the center of the belt webbing. I am using magnets to hold them in place right now, but I don't like how loose it is. Going to replace it with a snap to secure them. For Lancer, I want to fix some of the dressing issues "permanently" - maybe attach some velcro to pieces so they won't shift around (e.g. bund to flight suit, bicep to flight suit, etc.), and fixing the belt with some snaps. I might also hit the kit w/ some weathering. I am also going to need to change out the bolt on the helmet to the concave kinds (that's next). I think this is good to go for Basic and we are ready for submission to the GML!
