Finally I can post an update! Got around to buying myself a sewingmachine today, so now i have the arms and legs of the fligtsuit sown in quite a bit. Next step will be to see if I can make some templates for the riding patch, and be near to finished with the flightsuit mods.

So, an update. Things have been at a standstill the last two years, due to buying an apartment and a few other things in my life, so money's been a bit tight. But now I finally hope to get back to this project! Next step will be to save the money needed for the hard parts, and get some progress on the flightsuit. Edit: I don't know why I started this thread in this part of the forum. If a mod finds the time, I'd be thankful to have it moved to the right section

Indeed The problem is that my mom lives 500 km away from me, so I'll have to do that during a holiday, or take time off from work to make that happen

Thank you Kelly. The muscle can be a bit of an issue, as I'm 180 cm and my weight is 70 kg Pretty much skin and bone, but I'll manage. I've decided to try and sew the pigskin by hand, worst case will be that I'll have to redo it later. I'm quite patient, so it's not too annoying that sewing by hand takes some extra time. Either that, or pester my mom about it.

The solution with the snap at the collar didn't go too well, but I picked up some miniature magnets that I managed to sew into some fabric and attach to the collar flap. Works like a charm, though if it will hold during a troop I'll find out later. Finally got these beatuiful things as well Also picked up some tools the other day, pig leather and some other bits and bobs are on their way in the mail. Now I just have to scrape together the money for the armor and the bucket, then I'm (hopefully) starting to look like a biker scout! Cheers

Thanks, I had only checked amazon.uk, not the .de site. Ordered the glue from there, although the shipping to norway is horrendous. I'll just buy the Dremel 3000 at my local store, and be done with it. As for the glue, the shipping cost was actually higher than the cost of the glue. That's pretty much the choices I have, as quite a bit of products do not ship to Norway. Annoying, but there it is. Anyway, thanks for the tip! As for rivet gun, hot air gun etc, I can get most of it in a store not 5 minutes from where I live, quite cheap. Also, I can borrow quite a bit from my old man, so that should be fine. Regarding the dremel, It's far too expensive to order online because of the shipping, it's quite rediculous actually. The dremel 200 end up costing me quite a bit more than if I buy the dremel 3000 locally, so the 3000 is what I'll go for. Thank you guys, for the suggestions anyway!

Thank you Todd, Alan and Mickey for your input. Might be that I'm just useless googling, but I'm not having much luck in finding other similar tools than dremel. Is it the name of the tool, or is it the make we are referring to when we call it dremel? I haven't really gotten an understanding about that lol. Anyway, I'll get the Dremel 3000 cheap enough at a store nearby, so that's well and good. Exciting times ahead

What I seem to find in my nearby area, and what I can pick up in the city where I live, are as follows Dremel 3000 Dremel 4000 Dremel 8100 Dremel fortiflex 9100-21 dremel micro 7,2 V. Maybe I can find the 200 online, but wondering wich one of the listed dremels are worth it/overkill to pick up.

First and foremost, I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread. If it should be put somewhere else, please move it to a more appropriate place Well, regarding the dremel. Are there any dremels that I should stay away from at all cost? The dremel is an entirely new tool for me, so better to ask these questions to you, rather than buy an expensive mistake. I'm looking at dremels, and I find a 3000, a 4000, a 8100 and so on. I understand that some are more powerful than others, higher or lower rpm, that's just to look at the specifications. Ultimately what I'm wondering is what to go for. Wich dremels do you have? Have anyone of you tried different ones, and found some to be wonderful, and others to be a waste of money? Also, how essential a tool is it to have? Do you need it, or can you make do with a drill and a xacto blade? This might be some silly questions, but what do I know. I've got to learn somehow If a dremel to 75-100$ is more than enough for the modifications needed for working on the armor, I'd rather not spend 250$. This is also one of the few tools my dad doesn't have, so borrowing one isn't an option. A question for my norwegian fellows - wich glue have you used for assembling your helmet kits? Did you manage to get your hands on e6000, and in that case, where did you get it? I can only seem to find small 5ml tubes, and that seems to be a bit on the short side . Guessing I'll be needing more than 5ml. As always, any and all feedback are really apprechiated. I couldn't seem to find any better places to put this thread. By all means, move it to a more suitable place if I should have put it somewhere else.

Progress has been made, though I can't brag about huge leaps. Bought myself a cheap sewing kit with "everything you need to start sewing". The seam ripper was maybe 2" long, and I bothered to try using it maybe an hour or so, but very little progress was made. Went out and got a bigger one today, and then things started to happen. Also, it helps to have a sharp seam ripper, in case anyone didn't know. Had to try to stitch up the leg, as one of the pockets was fastened in the leg seam.. It's not pretty, but then again I will have to take in the leg at some point in the future. First pic is the inside all needle'd up, second is the outside after the stitching - by hand mind you. Also, I've planned how to do the flap at the collar, but it's getting late so I'll try that tomorrow. For now the plan is to use the snap from one of the pockets, so long as I've manage to hide it. If that doesn't work the way I want it to, I've also picked up some black sewing velcro. The snap should be hidden if I sew the collar flap on like so I am aware that this is baby steps, but I'm excited to be able to say I've started anyway. Looking forward to continue tomorrow. An update, though a small one. Today I bought myself a coverall from a local store. Haven't gotten started with it yet, got som tidying up to do and designate some corner of the apartment for the project. for now, I'm ready to start removing the external pockets. I have no idea about embedding, and I've last used photobucket probably around 15 years ago, so I hope you'll forgive me for any mistakes regarding the linking. I'm wondering about the zipper in the throat though. I will have to make a flap to cover up the top part, say 4-5 cm, or about 2" to help our non-metrical friends here. What I'm wondering is if I have to make the flap long enough, so it reaches down to the breast armor, or is a flap at the top good enough? Also, the "normal" front pocket, as you can see in this picture Yes, the wide gaping one. Will it need to be sewn shut, or is it fine to just leave it there? As of now it pretty much looks nothing more than a diagonal seam when I put on the suit. I'm from Norway. Cheapest new sewing machine I've found till now in the city I live in is 150 $. Don't exactly have Walmart here, and guessing the cost of sending a machine from wherever I can buy it from off of Amazon will cost me quite a bit. So, then I'll rather buy a used one for 75 $. Edit Just checked a sewing machine that was about 80 $ on Amazon. Shipping ans import fees are 98.40 $. So yeah, but nooooo... lol

Anyone got any experience with a Singer start 1306 sewing machine? Found one barely used for about 75 $.
