  1. just cause ... heres mine! my customized dvh blaster https://youtu.be/Rkzr2OFsvIc
  2. ugh! i just was thinking about you the other day lawless and our troop count chat :( ill get to 100 for you scout :) i made this emoticon below back before we lost one of our other scouts. im sure you and griffinx are looking down on all us. this one is for you ... till then
  3. a free floating tank is cannon its not secured to the armor in any way and its only held on with the elastic! i wear my tank that way ... i cant tell how many times ive been thankful having it like that due to people wrapping theirs arms around you for pics and then drag their arms down across the tank ... the free floating method moves the tank out the way and it springs right back into place or close enough
  4. np, your welcome! let us know how it works out ... or the fix you use
  5. alright so, the square is cut on the visor recessed area ... thats good! what i would suggest is .. ~ making some washers with some scrap abs to pull the visor away from the helmet ... youll put the washer between the helmet and visor and hope you have enough thread to get the nut on to the bolt. if not then you may end up with needing top goto the local hardware store and pickup some new elevator bolts. ~ possibly try grinding the square part away a little bit so, that the bolt is able to sit deeper in the recessed area ~ not sure if you could put the bolt in a vise and hit it a hammer to bend it abit .. just enough to get it sit more even in the recessed area just remember you dont want to cut the square out on the helmet ...
  6. the originals are what is called polished cotton ... anything white, will work though. honestly, i see the best results are when 2 different fabrics are being used ... 1 fabric for the bund and cod pieces and another more rigid/stiffer fabric for the pouches even having slightly different shades in color looks good too ... the flak vest is similar .. can be a polished cotton material or a a black t-shirt works ... theres is a tutorial for the t-shirt method its really up to you and what you feel comfortable using.
  7. that is entirely up to you ... we believe that the screen used bunds had batting throughout the entire piece my current bund only has batting on the front and ends behind the pouches ... the new bund im building will have the entire bund filled with batting i also use about 3/16" thick batting ... seems enough to give a good quilted look
  8. the bolts dont sit exactly flush on screen used helmets either .. the top has a slight gap due to the contour of the hlemet. with a couple other helmets i had there was always slight pressure on the visor when opening it and they never really opened up to far or even stayed opened by themselves. are these the bolts that came with your helmet? are these elevator bolts? whats the maker of the helmet? what does the bolt look like behind the head? if it an elevator bolt with square shaft have you widened the outside (visor) hole to accept the bolts square shaft behind the bolt head?
  9. yessir .. i know theres others scouts ... @Shortstack may know some more?
  10. i have an elastic strap around the calf ... velcro on the side of the flight suit and recently i add an abs support ... its sit on the front edge of the boot and has helped alot
  11. your good for basic .. go for it! after basic approval work on getting lancer and getting all the details fine tuned if you wish to do so
  12. alot good tips above .. esp, the abs slurry ... once the part is sanded with a real rough grit i use an all purpose bondo(its white w/white cream) ... i never used a flexible bondo or specialty bondo i do use a bondo glazing putty to spread over the all purpose bondo to cover the tiny holes and scratches looks like you may not have the mixture correct ... you could be using either to much hardener or not enough, or the plastic is not roughed/scratched up enough
  13. armor only orders are shipping those who order soft parts .... its still a waiting game
  14. nothing in the crl level 2 says you have to have X type of armor your honestly saying you would deny someone lvl 2 due to their choice of armor? hmmm🙁
  15. it really all depends on your set up and how the maker designed it i changed mine up abit and now its like this... my cod attaches to my flight suit my belt is velcrod to the cod my bund is velcrod to my vest --- my vest is not as long as most peoples i see around here
  16. you can still get approved with what you have it may not be proportioned to a screen used scout but, that not what basic approval is about! now, from what i see its all fixable ... or at least you can get it looking a little better. one noticeable thing i see is you could stand to loosen the belt alot ... no need to bring it in so tight. if you want to make a change you have several options: ~ you can raise the chest/back armor up so the neck line of the armor sits a few inches from your neck (see the comparison pic bikerscout007 posted above) look up hot water bath over in the fisd forum and reform the shoulder bridges. this will bring the chest armor up a couple inches then you just need to drop your belt abit and your set ~ leave the armor alone, drop your belt down and have 6 inches from the bottom of the armor to the top of your belt ~ order a (smaller)chest and back from a different company whatever you choose you can still get cleared with the armor you have. nothing in the crl says you have to be proportioned just so .... good luck!
  17. couple suggestions ... there are several kingshow version of boots ... i have the foreman version and they have a smooth surface also, i would not suggest superglue be used as it becomes hard and you really want something flexible just keep using the e6000 and use some tape to pin the trim piece/dogbone down ... once the glue dries remove the tape plus, using a soft glue makes for easy repairs and no damage being done to the boot, vinyl or leather form the hard dried super glue also, check out the boot cut outs here on the original boots... http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/20025-reference-photos-of-the-inter-sierra-sneakers/

  19. @Darth Voorhees i would hope that @sskunky makes a new holster to fit dvh blaster rather than rework the original CFO/Strider holster as its designed for the strider blaster. but, then would he make other holsters for other makes of blasters? @doubledx thanks for adding all your measurements. from what i see we are pretty close on with everything in our builds, nothing that stands out. so, i do believe the issue is in the blaster. with @Darth Voorhees and @Strider blasters being different and me having the older version of the dvh's blasters i can account for a little more than 1/2" gap ... but, that is not 1" so, im still needing to make up 1/2" somewhere. ??
  20. i do see at some events where i stand in one spot to long the lens start to fog up but, it just takes a little movement to get the air circulating in the helmet and the fog is gone. i have yet to become overheated ... yes, it does get hot but, i also work outside for a living so im used to the heat prolly more so than others. also, ive never been in an event where i couldnt get outside or to a cooler room or simply to a place where i could lift my visor for a few moments without the public noticing. i have thought about fans just for the times when i have to stand in one spot due to the overwhelming photo ops taking place ... but, still havent done it yet. everyones comfort level is different so, id say troop a couple events and see how you feel and go from there.
  21. @Darth Voorhees @Strider @sskunky this post is intended to talk about the combination of dvh's blaster and cfo/strider armor and not keep runnning dvh's for sale thread off track. the conversation in the for sale thread starts from the post in the link ... http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/20006-dvh-ec-17-scoutpatrol-trooper-pistol-run-spring-2019-open/&do=findComment&comment=182748 this post is not to bash or steer people away from either vendor. actually, i highly suggest you buy from both of them. both vendors have treated me very well and their products are top notch. maybe, we can figure out where the issue is and a fix or adjustment can be made? so, continuing from the conversation. mainly because, i dont see how its a build issue on my side. as theres no way to make the holster bend and if i cut the flat side the vents would be to close to the holster body i would like some measurements from you all ... ~ measurements of the blaster ~ measurements of the holster ~ i have 2 cfo/strider holsters ... 1 built and not built, they are the same. ~ i have 1 dvh blaster looking at striders pics of his blaster in the holster id say the DVH is slightly smaller .. different proportions here and there. look how far in the dvh blaster sits down into the holster. look at the scope adjustment cap cover location compared to striders. there is also a gap between the scope and the blaster body on the strider. the dvh scope is on the body, no gap there at all heres my pics with measurements ... if i need more pics/measurements just say so
  22. im not sure what you consider a good fit ... imo, i think cfo/strider holster needs to be shrunk on the outside rounded portion of their holster by about an inch. the only way to get your blaster secured 100% in the cfo/strider holster was to add a brace inside the rounded edge ... its about 1" from the blasters scope side and holds the blaster in the holster securely. i have had kids trying to pull on the blaster and it doesnt budge. btw .. im not using your dual magnet system as i found the blaster would still pop/bounce out the holster
  23. i was just giving some more input ... i agree with what you say 100% but, we have to let people know things are ok and within the crl guidelines ... not everyone is looking for screen accuracy // i had a hard time explaining that to someone this past week
  24. looks just fine for basic approval and lancer ... there is no requirement for location or width of these stripe details
  25. @RS Prop Masters thanks for chiming in on these details. thanks for listening/working with all of us too. i removed some of the bullet points and left the ones for more detail/discussion So the above are required to have the Scout pass basic clearance? yes Lancer is a different prospect but I'll look over the parts. We are planning to have our armour meet all the requirements. We know the boots will not meet lancer status so currently a Lancer out of the box is not possible. Thats not a bad thing, Lancer should be something to aspire to. i believe having lancer out of the box is not hard to achieve with costume. there will need to be some customizing with things ie: flightsuit, boot shaft needing to be taking in. we dont want the suits to baggy or the boot tops to wide. if you have to details right then its mostly how you wear the costume to be able to pass lancer.needs fixed for lancer:~ fix the cummerbund / this bund is to tall, agreed. These are all to be made to measure. ~ the length can be made to be measured. but, honestly, imo, the height should all be the same. the bund doesnt go past the pouches on the bottom and it should tuck up under the armor a couple inches which is determined by the strapping on the side, the side strapping actually hides the top of the bund. (see pics below) ~ back tank stripes for lancer only allows 1, 4 or 6 / in the pic they have 2 so, you will have to add more stripes agreed, not a problem. ~ this was talked about a couple post above, its not just having the correct number bars but, also the position of the bars. they are not all in the same place. see this post above http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/20137-rss-scout-up-close/&do=findComment&comment=182524 ~ blaster doesnt look to have the proper lense discs on the back of the scope / it looks like its flat in that area, correct. A new mould of our original Single point is underway. ~ is your blaster a lineage blaster or a fan made blaster?things to note // further inspection needed: ~ is the boot velcro closure 1" ? / this detail is needed for basic yes it is, are the boots not already clearable? they have been around a long time. ~ we reworked the crl last year and this was a lancer specification. so, IB along with most any boot would clear basic back then. ~ elastic sizes on the armor / for lancer they will all need to be proper sizes. we already see the tank elastic is too big. The hump elastic at 12mm is optional even for Lancer according to the CRL, all other elastics match the requirements. ~ again, we reworked the crl last year and this was a lancer specification, if i remember correctly it was not an option then either ~ helmet still has the gap on the side where faceplate(visor) meets the helmet, This is a screen derived helmet. ~ yes, i know, i have built alot of your helmets and this is a detail the people i have made helmets for request. they want to have this detail/gap closed and be even down the helmets edge, an even reveal (see my pic below) - granted some screen used helmet are open and have an uneven reveal. ~ the cod piece arch/curved detail looks abit to rounded -- this looks like the gino scout detail. I will look at this again, it is straight until the centre then curves at the centre. ~ right, its not an arch with a huge radius ... its a very slight curve. Thanks for the feedback. Aside from the boots I don't see any issues moving forward that will prevent the Scout being Lancer out of the box. This leaves the current boot makers to continue supplying as they do and the IB boots to be placeholders for people working to Lancer. I personally prefer these quality made boots to be my preferred choice until I obtain found part boots. ~ good luck finding the correct inter sneaker .. every other scout i know is searching for them ... have you all thought about having someone recreate the sole? why cant IB make the sole or at least one that looks better and can be made into a lancer sole? On a personal note, it was great to give the Scout a run out this weekend and I can't wait to get my suit through the UKG clearance and join the ranks of the Pathfinders. ~ we look forward to seeing you asking for full access over here I am really looking forward to getting the rest of these Scouts finished up so shipping to start asap.. ~ yeah, make it happen ... i was going to bug andrea soon over there on facebook, december has long passed, lol. cant wait to get another bbb from you all again, thanks for working with all of us! 1 of my helmets visor to helmet even reveal screen used helmet with even reveal top if cummerbund being hidden by side strap
