THE first dumb question?? -helmet venting??
SanTan Scout replied to SanTan Scout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Check!! No un-needed hole any where. stick to the script!! thanks again. Old DP Helmet here tonight- Wow very raw, very old cracked visor, little warped, yellowing, Awesome.....perfect candidate for Rebel Scout Lid. if I ever saw one!! Mods beyond my skills and time allotment but I know some one doing the same mod. Very trusted in the PropCom. so it may need to make that trip out west for them to play with. Maybe with the one already in the planning/ making and mine on his shelf that would be the start of a another item for them ?? -
I have hold out blaster form Polymer Armory - the old version- I want to add AEG mock suppressor, HK416 style butt stock - the one that slides out on two wire frame , tiny butt plate area, change out scope, with top mounted 4 power attached to Picatinny rail , front lower pistol grip too control muzzle rise when ""shooting"" all parts I have laying around the shop. some aeg some real... So at the end it would be a hold out blaster, long barrel, short butt stocked, suppressed "carbine" Side Note: found the REAL DEAL mg42 trigger group/ grip...I want to build up some carbine or sniper rifle off that one day too. found real wood stocks too , not too expensive....ONE day maybe, flash hider too, if you know where to look there are parts kits out there that can be cut up and made to suit what WE all dream of- Laser Blasters

Has anyone decided to run the S&T Sterling moded up as e11??? I have and do airsoft milsim in days past and love the idea of this AEG for plinking at stuff in my desert behind the home and still have a tuff as nails replica to rock at events... Metal stock, metal body, etc etc.... I have held several REAL STEEL sterling in my days and loved them, just was not going to do the paper work or try to PAY for some NFA- Full auto gun....now 20 year later I wish I had - they are worth tons now ( the real thing that is) Parts kits can be had and I can have a tube welded up ant what not but it wont be cheap and not 'shoot'... .the blank Firing prop guns are crazy expensive these days too,,,, if you can find one- I could , SHOULD have gotten one of those in '89 for $350 cash with a can of blanks....oh well. any one have the S&t, back on topic....?

So if you put fan in fore head area did you cut the slits just under the visor to let air in??- I want to add a drink holder too... camel back in the "back pack hump"??..(joke)--- well not so much but maybe not practical.... -
I was thinking about this as well. My take would be a Class A , B , Charlies and Armor- for ME an A and B's Dress Uniform would be out . BUT Charlies ?? What about the tie fighter jump suit to stomp in as UTILITIES around post?? UTS. that is what I want w a soft cover ( hat) , No need for it to be the Officers cap.. If for true casual gatherings .... I Found a cool round cap flat top like the US army used in the 50's I think with Imperial snow flake on the front....think I will get that just to wear while I build up the armor and cut into the DP helmet... Black jump suit no rank....soft cover, jack boots!!

Thanks to all for intel... We get 115 in the shade for days and days, those night can be 105 at midnight--- The mods done well looks like it should , or was done at the Imperial Helmet factory or what planet, but it gives it a finished look, not just yellow foam or padding .... Got to have intercom. Cooling...Heating, hearing assist gear, drink tube, night vision, thermal, Sound protection against loud blasts, RFI locator, gps land and marine nav. input, radio jamming gear, Satcom phones to call wife from event let them know I am coming home late, right?? There's tons of room in those, can'y wait to have mine....I think Spike's Lid will be on my list and give the DP to my kids to mess with. -

is it me or do the elevator bolts on side of visor look much bigger than standard. I know it is the animated version so everything has small changes BUT??? I like this... Would almost be easier to point out what is not the same as the Imperial scout ....like the cummerbund , the neck seal, shoulders , pouches... so much is standard with only a few changes...DETAILS details always in the details....Allot of TBD still...do we need more info to proceed??? IS the chest armor the SAME or will there need to be a whole new piece for that.... I would love to do a REBEL SCOUT, sounds wrong yet right, is that wrong?? Sorry I am simple... -
THE first dumb question?? -helmet venting??

will do that today after some house work and some REAL work too...- yes I am the stay at home parent of 3- & run a small Co. from home and do some rep work for a couple other firms that just took me on for sales.... But yes I will register with DSG very soon..today , tonight..? I have been in some very hot places of the world with a ton- tons of gear on, heavy stupid packs, some serious heavy Weps, with no venting, no cooling no nothing- just pain and sweat and more pain and tons of heat and gear- Heat exposure events are no joke.. been there done that,, have the scars to prove it !!!....ALL mental, mostly. Soft goods ?? I think I may have that covered . reaching out to Max's Sci-Fi , he comes highly recommended ...USA source and he delivers on his sales NO waiting 2 years with no show for goods.... thank You All again. I just want to jump in to my suit and go go go, alas I have much work ahead before I can join the ranks .... -
I live in AZ.. it gets hot here, very hot...I want to vent the helmet but want to stay in reg...OR I may NEED TWO lids??? One for casual trooping and One for Cannon events??? Question 1: the snout , has the decal for the nose hole- can I make those vent hole and still decal the blue in between the vent slots??? Plan: open ear vents and get small fans to pull in fresh air AND want to add tiny fan to snout vents. Additional plan: Hovi and aerator - when I redo the snout details I want to find a way to STAND off the details from the snout just enough to have air pass by but not be seen... Sorry if Not very clear- but..I can see what I want not explain it so well.....the aerator also would allow for Air to enter and pass into and out of helmet???Right?? I saw a speaker mounting in that part, is there still open air passing in and out?? 2nd bad question?? I saw a post where the entire detail with the backing area was removed...if I leave or add tiny stand off piece it would let in air ??? Like not sealing the eye shields to allow air passage....it would look flush from the out side and just have a tiny slit around the perimeter of the or behind it?? Wanting to troop all year means 100+ F for over 6-8 months of the year.. DAY AND NIGHT .we will only have cool days for 2 months in a really good year. like today 70's day time 40/upper 50's night time...NOT complaining except the HEAT and Armor even WHITE plastic armor.... I don't need another heat exposure , drop dead heat exhaustion event -- "call the CorpsMan" again.....or does the 501st call them medics?? thanks in advance for any help and putting up with dumb long question/ explanations....I will have more.

I have also gotten hold of a Don Post helmet, and will watch this thread with great interest. Taking from the top down, so to speak... I will need to do all the same work or maybe less . Mine does not look as warped on the visor....take pics. let us keep up with your project.
